This, Innes sucks

Edit: Espically since 97.5 lost the signal for undisclosed reasons to a mariachi network for the time being on the north side, I don't even listen to the blitz on the way home.

during the dark days, he was on air talking about driving the family back from Florida. Listening to 104.5 in Baton Rouge and was like "they are discussing college baseball pitching changes with callers...I cannot remember the last time I discussed an Astros topic with a caller"

For some reason that always stuck with me

Interesting thought from Dave Cameron's chat on fangraphs today.

Q: what do you see Verlander's value at?
A: I think the Tigers would have to eat about $20M to give him away for nothing, $30M if they want a real prospect.

For context, he is owed pro rated $28M this year, $28M in 2018 & 19, and has a vesting $22M option for 2020 if he's top 5 in the 2019 cucharadita young voting. So ~$67M total and the option is unlikely to vest

Been thinking those money parameters. What would you give for Wilson/Verlander and $20 million? Assume Sipp and Singleton go back to Detroit to dump bad contracts.

Why would you assume this? Detroit is trying to clear $? Instead of taking on our shite contracts wouldn't they just send us less $? But to answer the more important question, Fisher is an obvious center piece candidate, with guys like Cionel/Hector Perez, JD Davis, etc as other pieces.

I assume it because I don't think the Astros would agree to take back just $20 million without more money relief. Another team might.

Plus, Sipp is not a bad rehab-and-flip candidate. Give him a bunch of innings and a new pitching coach to work with him. Lefties always can gain value. Singleton is a cheap (by Detroit standards) young flier.

Yeah, Fisher would have to go. We know they already like/want him. How many of that other group though? Two seems sufficient.

Ok I guess the $ issue just creates a philosophical debate of "$20M and take Sipp's contract" or just sending extra $. If they think Sipp has potential or if they think he's a lost cause would be the main factor

Just saying, I doubt Detroit would choose throwing away more money over taking a chance on rehabbing Sipp on a losing team to flip next season.

That's fair. Singleton there's no difference in sending us an extra $4M or taking him, unless they need upper minor league 1B/DH depth

Interesting. Notice where peacock is listed. Yesterday's lineup card had him amongst the starters.

Peacock in the pen will be really good.

And I'm certainly ok rolling with DK, LMJ, Morton, Fiers and McHugh as starters

Still need a viable LHP out there though

So between Hand and Britton, nobody wants to pay the exorbitant relievers prices. Although we are partially to blame due to the Giles trade, and then Chapman and Miller too. Market is skewed heavily in favor of pitching when we only need pitching. Awesome.
