Yeah he isn't Doc Rivers....

Would be curious what they would ask from the Cubs.

I'm hoping the Yankees make no moves unless it is a small one. Such as just taking on a bad contract without giving up someone. I really don't want Quintana

I noticed Armenteros is pitching for Fresno tonight, just in case his promotion wasn't already mentioned.

Armenteros had a good first go of AAA as well:

Speaking of untouchable, Rogelio Armenteros had a not bad AAA debut.

6 innings, 0 runs, 2 hits, 3 walks, 8 Ks (struck out the side in the 6th).

We've played 83 games, so Paulino suspension was announced after 81 games right? That's pretty crazy that he got an 80 game suspension with 81 games remaining

How do you handle that for his arm? Obviously he's not playing any MLB games again this season, but do you completely shut him down now and have him start throwing again in offseason? Have him make a few more starts in the minors just to give him work/build stamina for future seasons?

You will never see him in an astro uniform again. Forget his name.

I'm pretty sure he's not allowed to start in the minors either. I would guess he would have to go to spring training facility

ETA: when Marte was suspending for The Pirates, this was said:

quote:

Per the terms of the joint drug agreement between MLB and the Major League Baseball Players Association, Marte will not be paid or accrue service time during the suspension. Also, Marte will not be eligible to play in the postseason, should the Pirates qualify. For the time being he can work out on his own, and he will be allowed to play minor-league tuneup games as his suspension nears an end.

So his season is for sure over with. I'm not sure on rules of trading or releasing a player on suspension.

I suspect the plan would be to get Paulino into the Arizona Fall League to get him some innings.

Such an unusual season to follow as a lifelong fan.

I remember innately pulling against our division rivals to the bitter end, but they were all in a different league.

Now, the division lead is so enormous, even taking into account our starting pitching woes, that it's becoming difficult even to know who to pull for in the games played outside of ours.

Do we want a team to lose to become the seller for a key trade? Do we want a certain team to win one of the other divisions vs being a wild card?

Ultimately, it's a great problem to have, but the only time I ever felt this confident as an Astro fan ended with Kevin Brown.

We've got a pretty damn hard team to shut down through a series. No one is unbeatable but we're tough to consistently stifle. It's the best offense in team history.

That's why shoring up the pitching is primary but adding one more bat to make a great strength even greater is also not a bad idea (bring J.D. home).

I spent some time today doing some old school breakdown of our hitting stats.

Beltran has been an unexpected disappointment. I'm still hoping he's got some Ross-like moments in him from the Cubs this past season, which I was able to witness in person.

Bregman doing worse than Beltran would have been expected, but not Beltran's worst half a season in a 20 year career.

Look at what Marisnick has done in less than half their ABs.

Only problem is he K's at the 2016 Astro rate.

Springer can't reproduce his first half. Reddick has had a career half year. Correa doing what should be expected for the next 10 years, Altuve maybe 5.

Marwin also has to come back to reality, but something tells me he has just arrived. I don't envy Luhnow right now. Bagwell was my favorite player post Cruz, but his contract crippled us. Randy Johnson was a great deal, but it didn't pay off.

I think he'll get his guy. He seems to have the touch right now.

On the Astros 10th Inning Show, Matt Thomas mentioned Jose Quintana coming to the Astros.

He said the name with such authority that it lead me to believe he may have inside information.

Quintana has not had a good 2017. Do not want as a Stros fan.

He's been much better since The beginning of June. Striking out a batter an inning and his ERA is at 2.34
