His market value wouldn't be that great regardless because of the major league performance, but it would be higher without that contract. Without that contract, he'd earn 550K or so, instead of $2 mill. And any contract benefits won't kick in until his arb years which wouldn't be for a couple of years, and the contract kicks up then anyway.

Maybe I'm dumb when it comes to baseball contracts, but if he signed a 5 yr, 10 mill deal, he forgoes arbitration.
So if he blows up for another team hell have 2 years that would have been Arb years that he'll be paid 2 mill instead.
