Deserve to win, we did not.
In honor of Forrest Whitley, it was.

Damn shame we didn't trade him in 2017.

How about some off day trade talk. Am I the only one hoping we keep it realistic at the deadline. This doesnt feel like an all in team. We're good. Competitive. Have the top 2 in the rotation plus the back end of the pen that could put us in good position in a post season series. But the offense needs probably more help than we need to pay for. And we need another starter but mid to back end. Think there are ways we can upgrade without going nuts.

As of right now I’m all about not going big at the deadline. Loved the talk from last week of someone like Lux. Another lefty bat and upgrade at 2b would be nice

Ryan O' Hearn (OPS+ 158) and Ced Mullins (OPS+121) from Baltimore are interesting, both on expiring deals. O'Hearn hasn't played a lot of outfield recently so idk the fit.
Adam Frazier as well, hitting .272 against RHP this season. Not much juice though but a LHH who doesn't swing and miss or strikeout.
Mike Tauchman is at worst a league average competent left hand platoon bat for the White Sox that doesn't swing at balls outside of the zone and draws a lot of walks. Pretty average to below fielder.
Not sure anyone on that list outside of O'Hearn is a true difference maker, but the other guys probably help some with just having platoon flexibility and not costing a whole heckuva bunch. Would have been nice to not lose both Ronel and Wesneski so there could have been some flexibility to move a starter with control for more of an impact bat.

The Chandy Man floated the idea of trading Jake Meyers to create some other need value if Melton looks like he could stick. Idk about it. Never thought I'd say this but losing Jake's bat would ding our offense pretty good. Plus hes an elite defensive player.

That idea is contingent upon what Melton does in the next few weeks. If he starts to hit, his defense is as good as Jake's in CF. We can then make a trade to get a quality LHH for LF or 2B.
However, I don't believe they will get enough out of Melton's sample size to trust him post-deadline for this season, even though I do think he is the long-term CF.

It was a REALly poor decision not to trade him.

3 game lead….
You mean the Mariners scored 4 runs in the 9th with 2 outs and nobody on to tie the game and still lost?
This was after the Dbacks lost their closer to an undisclosed throwing injury after K'ing the 2nd out.
