President of baseball ops is a new position for the Astros. It seems we're setting up for Luhnow's successor to come in as GM with Jeff still running the show.

Friedman is the President of Baseball OPs in LA.

Epstien the President of Baseball Ops in Chicago with Hoyer as GM.

There's a handful more teams with the position but most of them also have a separate GM.

Nah, he left to be the man in charge and test himself. Unless he fails he’s staying in MIL.

Nah he wants and deserves to run his own show. Only way that would happen is if he got fired which isn’t happening. We will promote someone internally to GM the eventually, probably Elias or Brandon Taubman

I'm expecting Luhnow just serves out the season as GM and they'll promote from within in the off season. Just based on the role his peers serve in, GM won't be a long term title for him now that he's President of Baseball Ops.

Taubman is probably a good bet. The next boy wonder. Sort of followed a similar path to Luhnow into baseball. Analytics geared guy.

Yeah I think he’s more on the contract/trade valuation side and Elias is more scouting oriented. One of them will probably get poached by another team if they don’t get promoted

Astros have the 3rd best run differential since WWII. 69 Orioles 163 2016 cubs 160 2018 Astros 157.

Crazy that I feel we are just now hitting our stride+just now hitting a soft spot in the schedule

ETA We now lead the league in runs, batting average, 3rd in OPS and slugging, bottom half (19) in strike outs.

There's the day off for Gattis. As expected. Tuve likely gets one before this Rays series is over.

Hinch's color choice bothers me. bLue when playing ball both baseball and football indicated LEFT ya know since it has an L in it. Red would indicate right ya know cause of the R. Hinch mixes all that shite up, he indicates his left handed hitter with Red... And switch hitters with Blue... Terrible color usage Hunch

So is Elias though. I thought Elias was Luhnow #1 guy?

The Astros Gave a 5 year extension to a guy who thought Bo porter would be a great manager and Mark appel would was better than an MVP like Bryant.

Success has a thousand grandfathers. Think about that.
