Nice to get all four of these. The next week on the road will be tough. I like what I'm seeing from Rondon though.

That may have been he worst umpiring i’ve Seen in some time as well lol.
Definitely a balk, but bullshite that it wasn’t called until Hinch decided to go out and say something. Like wtf.

I want to see the shot from the camera well of the balk again. I'm pretty sure that several Astros players jumped up before Hinch moved. Not trying to discredit him, I'm glad he came out and argued.

Altuve spotted it standing on 2nd.

Yeah there is no reason for him to not go argue that call lol, it was clear as day.
Just find it pitiful that it took a complaint to acknowledge something that clear.

AJ says in his post game that's something they were aware of with Kela. Says he does that quick pitch all the time with bases empty and might have just gotten too focused and did it with runners on and AJ called them on it.

Gotta imagine June 10th is gonna be the earliest the silver boot will ever be won in a season for a long time

After giving up 6 runs (5 ER) and 13 hits to squander a 6-0 lead, Dallas Keuchel said he got 11 balls on the ground today “that should’ve been outs.” Said there is not something to work on between starts, just keep doing what he’s been doing.
This guy.

Is Bannister the biggest fricking douchebag in baseball? He acts like a 12 year old girl whining absolutely nonstop. How does this assclown have a job?
Posted on 6/10/18 at 5:50 pm to Lsuhoohoo
Keuchel says "you can't say much more than 11 hits under 90 mph. 11 balls that should have been outs."
Posted on 6/10/18 at 5:51 pm to Lsuhoohoo
He's not going to endear himself to his teammates or coaches with that kind of nonsense. Was he beat by the shift at all today?
Posted on 6/10/18 at 6:03 pm to DaleGribblesMower
He is referencing his groundball ratio, not shifts.
His problem has been walks, flyballs leaving the yard, and inability to get chases w 2 strikes.
He obviously improved in 2 out of 3 of those areas, and still found a way to get pummelled. Has to be frustrating, but the truth is, hitters have figured him out, and he picked a bad time in his career for that to happen.

The problem it seems is he's not able to live at the bottom of the zone. If he can pound the bottom edge and get called strikes, hitters have to offer and those turn into weakly hit grounders and double plays.
He's forced to move those pitches up in the zone and they get hammered. Keuchel doesn't have the velocity or movement to live near the belt. He needs low pitches that hitters get on top of and drive into the ground

I do think DK has been plagued with some bad luck this year, but it’s clear he isn’t the same pitcher that we expected 7 quality innings from every time he gets the ball. The walks are still an issue, lot more pitches nowhere close to the zone than we are used to.
Posted on 6/10/18 at 6:15 pm to Lsuhoohoo
I see six strikes on pitches out of the zone. Players simply aren't chasing off of him anymore. Look at the pitches down, almost completely blue. He's being forced into the zone, and his stuff isn't good enough to get hitters out there.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in the Cy Young season, Keuchel saw an uptick in his strikeout rate. I think it got just shy of 9 K/9 and it was a big difference maker.
Am I right in remembering his strikeout pitch was a curveball that had a petty serious inside break to it? Would kind of sweep across the bottom of the zone and end up at the back foot of a RHB. Could have been a slider? Reason I ask, is I just don't remember seeing a strikeout generating pitch like that this year.

I found it in a 2015 highlight video. It was a slider. He was able to sweep it from inside to outside against LHB and get them to chase. And it broke hard inside to RHB. I'm not sure if he's had that pitch working for him this year. Certainly the strikeout and chase rate is down.

I don't recall him throwing anything this year that breaks like that or that much.

GB% is at a career low for him of 55%
BABIP is same as Cy Young Season
Hard Hit % is at a career high of 30%
Big Change in pitch mix is cutting back on Change Up and Slider and throwing a bunch of cutters
Slider as a pitch is career low in value of -7, down from 18 in Cy Young season (not sure if this is a run based stat vs league average or what)
Out of Zone pitches getting swings a few % less than career #s, Out of zone contact is Highest it’s been since 2012
TLDR; all the things that make him a good pitcher aren’t happening this year and throwing below 90 is not going to go well for him if he doesn’t get it corrected

Also, different camera angle so it’s hard to tell as much from year to year
But its clear the slider isn’t as good a pitch as it has been
