I'm sure he didn't mention our bullpen, not knowing what a good one looks like.

Baby Tuck taking to AA ball like a pig to mud. Double and a dinger tonight.

In #watch news, Archer is rarely anything more than average when it comes to results.

Not able to follow the thread today, but somebody had to make a Code Red on Santiago reference, huh?

Not impressed with Archer tonight. Just gave up his 4th run to put the Rangers on top. 114 pitches through 7. Second time he's done that this season. 21st consecutive start with at least 100 pitches. The Rays are gonna run him into the ground before shipping him off and let the arm injuries be someone else's problem.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but how does Feliz get the win if he pitched just the 9th inning when we already had a 10+ run lead?

Starter didn't go 5 so winning pitcher is decided by official scorer because the Astros already had the lead when the 1st reliever entered

There is also a rarely used clause where an official scorer can deem a relief pitcher's appearance "brief and ineffective." (For example, if a reliever relinquished a one-run lead by allowing three runs, but was still in line for a win after his team scored four runs in the following inning -- that may qualify.) If that's the case, the scorer can award the win to a pitcher who followed that "brief and ineffective" pitcher. Which relief pitcher earns the win specifically is also up to the judgment of the official scorer.

quote:

starting pitcher must complete five innings to earn a win (four innings for a game that lasts five innings on defense). If he fails to do so, he is ineligible to be the winning pitcher even if he last pitched prior to the half-inning when his team took the lead for the last time, and the official scorer awards the win to the relief pitcher who, in the official scorer's judgment, was the most effective.

Wins are such a dumb stat. It should be up to the scorer in every case IMO. It wouldn't help much but at least give it a little more merit

Seems like the brief and ineffective call should have been applied to Jankowski the other day.

Despite his last couple starts I still think Cole is the best out there.

If we go into October with Keuchel/Cole/McCullers thats the best rotation out there without question IMO and we have the horses in the farm to get it done.

For sure. Peacock or Gregerson should have gotten the win

This lineup and bullpen are going to ensure waiting until the deadline, and I think there will be a pitcher out of LF that wants to win a WS and sign a multi-year deal to play with an offense of this caliber.

Probably someone that hasn't even been mentioned yet.
