Benintendi's success is putting pressure on Bregman
Who cares? Bregman for all intents and purposes is a rookie. How many rookies would start off in the majors without spring training hitting .250? At this point in time hes batting 8th. While I would love for him to put some more slugging numbers up we dont NEED it right now. Just give him some time.

When we make a trade 99 percent of us will think we gave up to much. It's just flat out hard to give up prospects that you have watched for years.

I really don't think so. We're only a month in, and I'm taking nothing away from Benintendi's success to this point.

Sure. But He's had no more than 1 hit in any of those games. .262 3 doubles 2RBI 4 walks 7SO 4 GIDP .319 OBP which is right about league average.
He's basically just a guy. An afterthought in this lineup. He's not killing us but he's not contributing much to speak of. He's hitting a ton of groundballs, flyballs and line drives are largely non existent. I don't remember him hitting anything hard to left.
I absolutely think sitting on Leylands bench set him back a bit. And in this lineup, we can afford him hitting .250 with no power. But I think he's got another month or so to start to contribute a little more or he's gonna be sent to Fresno to get ramped up and the Astros will give a look to one of Reed, White or Moran.

They're not sending Bregman to Fresno unless he completely tanks, that's crazy talk

Completely agree that right now hes "just a guy" but I think he will settle in soon and bring more than just singles and multihit games. Just saying that no one needs to be panicking because at this point being "just a guy" is ok and for his timeline really ahead of the curve. Now if we get to the ASB and we havent seen a pick up in his slugging numbers then Ill start to wonder.

I figured the daily bitching session would involve the back of the rotation or bullpen, not suggesting swapping out Bregman for Colin Moran in the starting lineup

White at this point still has more MLB games than Bregman. It really seemed like Bregman was up for a lot longer than he was last year.

I hope all our guys hit .250 while they struggle...

I mean, come on! Sending Bregs to Fresno would be insane.
Totally send him to Corpus since it's so close to Houston.

Don't turn TD into the Crawfish boxes where you better fellate every Astro non stop or you're cast as a whiny bitch.
Like I said... "In this lineup we can afford Bregman hitting .250 with no power" and he's got time to pick things up. But don't kid yourself, there's nothing special about Bregman's batted ball profile. If we get into mid/late June and Bregman hasn't gotten where he needs to be, it's not an absurdity that he could spend some time in AAA while Reed gets another shot at the majors.
Bregman will have every shot and then some at contributing to the Astros. He should break out sooner rather than later. But if he keeps at his current level of production, I guarantee Luhnow will look at him as a position to upgrade.

There's a difference between fellating him and saying he should be sent down for one of three guys who are probably hitting a collective .190 at the ML level in a lot more than the 100 or so plate appearances Bregman has this year
Posted on 5/3/17 at 2:00 pm to Lsuhoohoo
Bergman is far better than reed. Reed is done.

Furthermore if anything I think bregman should be reinserted in the 2 spot against lefties. I think that will get him going hitting in front of 27

Was about to say the same thing, 2 hole Bregs was great last year

Did I say he should be sent down? No. Don't over react based on one sentence in the entire post.
I suggested it's a possibility but he'll have at least 2 more months before its even considered. I Believe he's out of sorts based on a lack of spring at bats. Watch his ABs..he works the count well but misses pitches he should square up. The timing is off. His current batted ball profile doesn't match up to what he did in the minors or even in his ML time last year. He hit a lot more fly balls which he hasn't done much this year. He's a more productive bat than 2017 has showed and I'm certain he'll get it right. But if it takes him a week or two in the minors against worse pitching to get his timing right, I think that's something the FO would consider.
Calm down.

It doesn't matter where he hits. He's seeing pitches to drive and not squaring them up yet. It'll happen.
Posted on 5/3/17 at 2:14 pm to Lsuhoohoo
I don't disagree he's struggling. I disagree inserting one of those guys into the starting lineup you mentioned would in any way give them a better chance to win. And I think he would need to get worse from where he's at right now to justify sending him down
If you want to send Bregman down in a couple months and upgrade the lineup, call up a third catcher and have McCann and Marwin split time at 1B with McCann catching when Marwin is at 1B

Would also rather have bregman hitting 2nd ease he can go 1st to 3rd and score from first on doubles from altuve and correa. Beltran clogs up the pipe.
