The other move we've got for 40 man consideration is shifting McCullers to the 60 day IL. But Alvarez will almost surely take Reeds spot. Theres no reason to carry him any longer

It's a possibility. Who's to say they won't go with a starting OF of Brantley, Jake and Reddick and carry Fisher as a reserve bat behind Kemp. It just hit me that Tucker doesn't automatically slot into playing time if they called him up.
Honestly I think it should be Tucker. He doesn't have a clear path to playing time in Houston outside of an injury situation. This is their shot to get another look at him.

Hell even if it’s fiaher I just hope that whoever they call up they treat right. Play them every day and let them get into a groove. Don’t let them take lumps for two days and then sit on the pine the next three and have to dwell on it.

Re the days off I have no problem with giving regular rest but I think we take it to extremes with most guys. Brantley and the catcher spot are an exception to me. Brantley has a lengthy injury history and is crucial to this team. Chirinos can’t take a 120 game pounding behind the plate and he’s also proven crucial to this team.

Agreed. Wish we would give Stubbs a look and trade for a strong defense/no hit type in July if he can’t cut it.
