He missed his shot last night but not tonight.

(I was writing a post about Rodgers before the walkoff)
His statcast metrics are an enigma
Exit velo, hard hit percentage, barrel percentage, bat speed, sweet spot percentage are all really good. So like you say, when he hits the ball, he hits it hard. His barrel is the highest of his career. I specifically remember him talking about his swing change and trying to increase his launch angle. He's nearly doubled his career launch angle.
I He's swinging considerably less in the zone than his career rate and making slightly less contact in the zone when he does swing. The huge drop off thats driving his massive k rate is the contact on pitches he chases outside the zone. He's chasing anout 2 percent less but his chase contact % is 29.8. A massive drop off from his 42.7 career rate.

I think it’s worth giving him some more time to see if he can get comfortable with a completely reworked swing, but he’s been incredibly frustrating to watch for sure.
It likely won’t be easy to make things click if he’s only playing sparingly and it will be tough to justify playing him more than that once Yordan is back

I recently saw an interview with George Brett talking about today's obsession with launch angle. He explained that it prevents guys from having the best chance to square up the ball in their swing plane. You get more whiffs as a result.

Yeah you can see how uphill his swing is and how much he swings through elevated fastballs. I think he swung through like 8 tonight
That’s always going to be the trade off

Just caught up, had a late softball game to attend. Framber was a stud, he keeps this up, will be interesting what kind of offers are sent the Astros way at the trade deadline. Cocksuck and Brendan Rodgers (Dalen it’s time to come up with an insulting nickname for this frickface—does frickface work?) are really dead weight at this point. At least Chas can sac bunt and has been walking from time to time.

Speaking of trades, our old buddy Kyle Tucker is hitting .216 with an OPS of .745 over the last 30 days.

Unless we are close to 10 games under .500 at the deadline or someone else is running away with the West I would have a hard time seeing them deal Framber. With McCuller’s implosion and injuries to others that is the scenario the Astros would have to be in to deal him.

I really don't think the pitching will be a determining factor on whether we deal him or not. Probably more about if we're scoring enough runs
Arrighetti and Javier will be back, and if there were a chance to get a LH bat out of it, I think the taste of the Paredes and Cam Smith return could help them pull the trigger, esp knowing the future of Brown looms

I think a lot rides on health. They aren’t dealing him if our number 3 pitcher at that point would be Gusto.
