Tucker was going to be the 5th of guy anyways. JL already said as much in a round about way.

Ho Lee Fuk. Singleton is huge. Drellich said he's gained 15-17 pounds up to 250.

I think like 8 or 9 of our projected 25 man roster is entering the final year of their contract.
Off the top of my head (someone correct me or add if I miss one):
Valbuena
Rasmus
Gattis (club option)
Gomez
Castro
Feldman
Fister
Neshek
Will Harris (Arb eligible)
Thats like $60-plus million projected to come off the books but also half our MLB team,

It would be tough making a deal with Milwaukee now I think. Stearns knows our system in and out

How pathetic are these grown men standing in line for autographs. I would refuse to sign anything if I was a player unless. It was for a kid. I would also put a personalized message on everything I sign.

It's prett sad. Those "fans" comes with bags full of shite they're trying to get signed

He is happy with that $10 million. I'm sure AJ Reed was happy to see biggggggg Jon in camp.

Most of the guys who expire after the season are not a big concern.
Valbuena (Bregman and Moran are coming)
Rasmus (may be willing to sign year-to-year to stay)
Gattis (club option means he isn't going anywhere unless we want him gone)
Gomez (1st round pick-to-be)
Castro (Bye Felicia)
Feldman (5th starter at best)
Fister (see Feldman)
Neshek (see Castro)
Will Harris (Arb eligible)

I could see us resigning Castro. We don't have a catcher in the pipeline really unless Stassi shows something this year. I think next year's free agency crop is actually decent though
Gattis won't necessarily be a free agent if we decline his option either. I'm pretty sure he just goes back to being arb eligible. When they signed the deal I remember seeing it wouldn't impact his free agency timeline and he still has a few years to go before he reaches the service time. I guess we could decline the option then not offer arbitration if he really sucks it up
Out of that group I see Gattis Rasmus and Castro (in that order) probably having the best chance of being brought back, and Harris should def be back as long as he doesn't blow up. Maybe an outside shot for one of Feldman or Fister. I don't see any shot for Gomez, Neshek or Valbuena

Gomez
Will probably be a trade candidate at the deadline.
Let's hope Marisnick gets his shite together to make Gomez less of a necessity.
Anyone watch that video of Gustave pitching his pen session? Dude has some good movement on his fastball.
And Giles... ho. lee. shite. dude was throwing his first session and was absolutely blowing up Castro's mitt.
Meanwhile...the "real closer" Gregerson is still a few days away from being able to throw.

We aren't dealing him at the deadline if we're winning. Marisnick would have to take a massive leap as a player to equal what Gomez is capable of if he's healthy. Gomez was a 5-7 win player at his peak a couple years ago. Even last year Gomez far outproduced Marisnick and he was hurt for most of the year
Gomez is an important piece to our success this year, but we will most likely be collecting a comp pick for him next season offseason while he signs a deal elsewhere with the young OFs we have in the system
And yeah I think Gustave is a future back end bullpen arm. He looks nasty. Giles plus him plus maybe Feliz if he ends up there would be dirty. And Riley Ferrell as well

Based on Barry's question in the Reds/Jays trade thread
I did too much digging into the trades we made once the rebuild began (2010-2014). When we auctioned off our best major league pieces for prospects. What a total crapshoot. Some of the trades we made got us major league players like Happ and Lowrie but the point of trades is building for the future so I looked at the ones who hadn't yet made the majors.
2010
Lance Berkman traded to Yankees for Mark Melancon & Jimmy Paredes
Roy Oswalt traded to Phillies for JA Happ, Jonathon Villar & Brett Wallace
2011
Hunter Pence traded to Phillies for Jared Cosart, Jon Singleton, Josh Zied & Domingo Santana
Michael Bourn traded to Braves for Brett Oberholtzer, Jordan Schafer, Juan Abreu & Paul Clemens
2012
Mark Melancon traded to Red Sox for Jed Lowrie & Kyle Weiland
Brandon Lyon, David Carpenter & JA Happ traded to Toronto for Asher Wojciechowski, Ben Francisco, Carlos Perez,
David Rollins, Franciso Cordero & Joe Musgrove
Brett Myers traded to White Sox for Chris Devenski, Blair Walters & Matt Heidenreich
Wandy Rodriguez traded to Pirates for Colton Cain, Robbie Grossman & Rudy Owens
2013
Wilton Lopez Traded to Rockies for Alex White & Alex Gillingham
Jed Lowrie & Fernando Rodriguez traded to Oakland for Brad Peacock, Chris Carter & Max Stassi
Jose Veras traded to Detroit for Danry Vasquez
Bud Norris traded to Orioles for LJ Hoes, Josh Hader & Competitive Balance Pick (Derek Fisher)

Abreu 7 games 6.2IP released from AAA in 2012
Owens 5.2 IP 7.94ERA released in 2014
Musgrove Astros #6 prospect
Fisher Astros #9 prospect
Vasquez currently at AA Corpus Christi
Devenski pitched at AA Corpus in 2015
Perez traded to LAA for Hank Conger
Hader traded to Brewers in 2015
Rollins selected by Mariners in 2015 Rule 5 draft
Walters released in 2013
Heindreich released from AA in 2014
Cain released from AA in 2015
Gillingham released in 2012
Cosart of course was sent with Kike and Austin Wates to Miami for Marisnick, Moran and Martes and the pick that turned into Daz. All those appear to have a future role in the organization.
Santana and Hader went to Milwaukee for Fiers and Gomez
Singleton, Stassi, Musgrove, Fisher, Vasquez & Devenski are still with the organization.
11 of the players were either released or claimed off waivers and the Astros got nothing.
Interesting that most of the minor leaguers we acquired did make it to the majors. Just none of them were very good.
