I'm sure they're trying to work a deal. Doesn't sound like they were confident with any internal option to backup Castro. They will trade cash or some lottery ticket for a catcher who is out of options IMO
I wonder if they have Devenski throwing at MMP so they're waiting to option him? I don't see how he could make the roster unless they unload an arm we weren't expecting

Looks like Roberto Pena unless they make a move. That may be something to keep an eye on. Carlos Corporan will probably be available shortly.

I might be alone on this, but here is what I hope happens.
White is everyday first to start the year. Tucker and duffy as the DH. Once gattis is healthy have him be strictly back up catcher. Once reed is ready aND past super 2 call him up to man first everyday. Then, move white to DH and play match ups with tucker.

I'm thinking something is nagging Valbuena. He hasn't played since the 23rd and Moran was retained during the cuts today.
ETA: Scratch that. I just remembered a tweet from the other day. He was supposed to make the Mexico trip but left the team to tend to a family issue.

Reed, Moran and Worth are going to AAA but Moran and Worth are staying with the team through this weekends exhibitions in Houston.

Remember he signed for $1,000 as a 33rd round pick.
And they only get paid for the 6 months of the season. As of today, White is guaranteed to make $507,500.

I thought for sure Singleton would get 30 days in Houston to start the season.
White simply kicked his arse this Spring.
Think of this... the Astros have removed damn near 300 strikeouts from the lineup this off season by removing only 2 players.
