I can't remember which one of the shitty AAAA pitchers are out of options... thinking Straily? I can see him getting a spot until Gattis comes back... try to get his trade value up.
Straily is indeed out of options. He's probably going to be released in a few days.
Also, James Hoyt is really making a push for a bullpen spot. 8.1 innings 2 hits 4BB 14SO. The 14 strikeouts lead the team. I'm not sure if he'd have a roll though. The pen is a bit crowded with guys who are more proven than him though. He had a great year in '15 at Fresno and is looking good in spring.

Giles finally had the type of inning we've been waiting for

Any of you guys know of a good Astros podcast ?
Posted on 3/24/16 at 8:02 am to LSU_Stros
CTH does one and they have lots of guests and players from the Astros and the minor leagues on. I've never listened to it.

Anyone else see Danny Worth getting that last spot? He's had a great spring and can play all over the infield.

I think we could definitely use a second lefty in the pen and I would much rather it be Hoyt than Cotts. If they keep Wandy as the swing man guy until McCullers comes back though having a third might not make sense

I think that Wandy is definitely staying.

I think they wanted Peacock to grab that role and he has failed miserably
I agree on Wandy staying

Hoyt is a righty...

Who did we give up in the trade that brought carter and peacock? Just Lowry? Did we give up anyone else?
What a turd that trade ended up
It's like, the anti-cosart trade.

Opening Day Staff with 12 probably looks like so?
Keuchel
Jabroni
Fiers
Fister
Feldman
Giles
Gregorson
Harris
Neshek
Sipp
Fields?
Wandy
If they do go to 13 pitchers I don't know who gets that other spot. Maybe Hoyt or Feliz (I would rather have him starting in AAA so he could get called up) or they take another lefty like Chapman or Cotts

First it was Mark Melancon for Lowrie and Weiland.
Then It was Lowrie and Fernando Rodriguez for Carter, Stassi, and Peacock. Might have been a PTBNL but not sure.
Then ultimately we got Lowrie back through FA and then traded him for Brendan McCurry.
Factor in that we traded Nottingham and Mengden to OAK as well for Kazmir.
So in all that:
Astros got:
Carter (gone)
Stassi (DL)
Peacock (probably not gonna make the 25 man)
Kazmir (Rental-gone to LAD)
Kyle Weiland (gone)
Brendan McCurry
A's got:
Jed Lowrie (twice)
Jacob Nottingham (MIL)
Daniel Mengden
Mark Melancon (PIT)
Fernando Rodriguez
Certainly looks like we gave up more than we got.

I hated giving up Melancon for Lowrie, but as someone else told me, a closer on a shitty team isn't worth much. Weiland could have been good but unfortunately injuries got the best of him.

MLB Network has Astros vs. Mets today. Keuchel with the start.

That may be the only inside the park home run AJ ever hits.
Ces making dreams come true.

Let's talk about constructing the dumbest defensive outfield of all time.
LF - Manny Ramirez
CF- Cespedes
RF - Jose Canseco
