Good series, guys. Both teams might look a lot different next year.

No. I do not think they will be done as long as Bregman, Altuve, and Correa are on the team. They don’t do it as much for Gurriel, it seems. Even when they are gone, we still may get Cheater calls. Fans memories are much longer than players and acting crass is quite popular now.

This team just never was what they could be. The resting. The barely clinching till towards the end.

Sadly I don’t think this is going away. An 88 win WS champ, while 106 and 107 win teams didn’t even make it, gives weight to the argument. As a fan I hate it but the evidence is there. The inevitable expanded playoffs are going to make this worse. Home field means less in baseball than pretty much any other sport so it is not an incentive.

Sucks arse that we lost tonight, but another great season with great memories. I enjoyed it again. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Guess we gotta try again next year. We'll be really good again next year I believe.

Congrats to the Braves though they earned it.

Thanks for another great season DATers. See yall in the off season.

The only reason it (resting players non stop) will go away is if it's post all star break and we are seriously worried about winning the division

I expect Oakland to regress but not horribly. I'd guess around .500

Mariners overachieved big time this year but they're a few pitchers away from being solid (don't forget Kyle Lewis was out all season)

Angels worry me the most. I expect they go hard after Scherzer/try to sign 2 of the better pitchers on the market. If Trout and Rendon play most of the season that's a scary lineup. Of course, this exact thing has been said about the Angels every off-season so who knows

Lol Rangers aren't even worth the typing

I’m pretty butthurt.

I was disappointed with Click’s deadline moves, but if you look at it now they were all pretty effective and played a massive role getting this team as far as it did and gave up minimal talent. Hopefully the first moves are re-signing Stanek and Graveman. Maybe with a full off-season of work Pedro Baez can return to form and that’s the start of a pretty good bullpen with Pressly coming back too.

Center field is weird, if you felt comfortable starting a season with Myles Straw you gotta assume they feel comfortable running a Jake/Chas tandem out their to start the season. There isn’t much of a market for CF’s so they may have to get creative.

Shortstop is weird too, you have a couple of really high ceiling guys who probably aren’t ready quite yet so you can’t start the season out with them. Also don’t really wanna tie up money in a guy long term if you think Leon or Pena can really play. Would a guy like Story maybe take a “prove it” deal a la Semien or does he have enough good tape to get a really big pay day?

Have to add a front line starter on top of offering JV the QO. I’m going to be very optimistic about Click and his teams ability to spot talent and build on the solid foundation. With the money opening up and the solid foundation there is still some winning that can be done

This is the worst day of the year for me. Can’t wait for Pitchers and catchers report.

On topic:

It was never winnable.

I’d like another utility type who can cover CF and some IF potentially for the bench but fine rolling with Meyers and Pena. Would much rather spend on the pitching staff honestly

I think the new CBA is gonna close the service time loopholes at least somewhat. So you could see Pena and potentially Lee pretty early next year

That could be a possibility. Nobody is Carlos defensively but when in shape Bregman manned SS in 2019 he was more than serviceable. Wonder in the FO would to go him and ask him if that’s something he’d want to do

I really do think Meyers can play too. He slumped at the end of the season, but would love to see him adjust to the adjustments.

Chris Taylor is a FA and he fits the description you laid out perfectly

Oh well. On to Cincinnati.

I always figured I would never see the Saints or Astros win it all, and I've seen both...so everything from here til my dirt nap is lagniappe. But it sucks to get so close and not bring it home.

And it's nice knowing this isn't the end of the line. The future still looks good and this team will play a lot of meaningful games next year.

Here's to another fun year in the DAT.

Should be an interesting off-season. Let's see how it plays out...
