I think 7 or 8 years for 175-210 is fair. Seems like they’d be past the starting point offer phase at this point but who knows, this could have a week or so ago

Sounds like Dusty is going to bat Altuve lead off. I don't love it. Straws speed is his only useful offensive asset. Based on spring lineups, straw will be batting 8th. With Maldy or Castro batting 9th followed by Altuve at the top, you're neutralizing the impact of straws base stealing with strikeout prone hitters and an extremely aggressive first pitch chasing hitter.

If straw can get on base, hitting him in front of a patient hitter in Bregman and a contact oriented hitter in Brantley makes the most sense to maximize run scoring hits.

Straw should not be hitting lead off in any scenario

Career OBP of 327 in 200+ PA. 84 wRC+ 650 OPS.

I’d probably rather have Bregman leading off but just glad it’s not Straw

Indeed that is the plan. I will say that batting Straw 8th has to be because Altuve is 1st. At least the catchers will take some pitches to allow Straw to run. Unlike George, Jose is not about to become a more patient hitter just because he's leading off.

Assuming Straw gets on base is already a stretch

Now you want me to believe we’re going to try to steal a base?

GTFO of here. LMAO

But seriously, that's what Dusty is thinking. It makes sense in theory.

He'll run when he does get on. Hard to do when Altuve is immediately swinging at everything that moves.

Kalas was really beating around the contract bush during that live interview with Correa, who was dodging the subject like the Matrix.

So I’m getting the Astros broadcast on ESPN+, is this some kind of spring training tease that will be blacked out in the regular season?

You can see select MLB games on ESPN+, but in order to see every Astros game, you'll need MLB.tv or AT&T Sportsnet Southwest.

@brianmctaggart
Correa on the Astros: "If they don't see me here long term, then another team will."

@MarkBermanFox26
Carlos Correa (@TeamCJCorrea) says he will not soften his deadline about wanting an extension before the start of the regular season: “Absolutely not. Once the season starts..I’m playing my last season before I become a free agent.”
