Man. I was looking for an unrelated bookmark and saw I had this post saved from early in Game 5 thread

Ryno being a great community leader:

Thread is GOLD to go back and read through I highly recommend it. Guessing this is around the time we are down 4-0

LINK

ETA: These aren’t exact, but:

Page 10 = down 4-0 world ending

Page 20 = Yuli HR to tie it at 4

Page 25 = Bellinger hits 3 run HR, right afternoon I post that McHugh has to get him to chase the curveball

Page 31 = Altuve 3 run HR

Page 49 = George redemption homer + more runs

Page 71 = McCann HR in bottom 8th

Page 77 = 9th inning implosion

Page 103 = McCann gets HBP with 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th...y’all know how the rest goes

Game 5

So many highs and lows in that damn game! I honestly felt like that was the pivotal game in the series even before all the insanity happened. Just in a vacuum I feel like if the Dodgers had won that game and went home up 3-2, they win the series. But also taking into consideration the emotional spur the winner got from a crazy game like that.

The win probability graph is one of my favorite things ever

I’m editing my previous post to say what page in the thread big events happen

I’m currently on Yuli HR to tie it 4-4

Its just hysterical/awesome how emotional everyone’s posts were. Could clearly see how much the game meant to everyone and how everyone knew that it was likely gonna decide the series

ETA: this was what I posted right after Yuli ties it

quote:

Man I’m so upset with Keuchel. If you would’ve said we get 4 off Kershaw...

I mean wtf how was that my first thought

The part that just absolutely defined that game was Springer letting that ball get by him that allowed the go ahead run. He leads off the next inning with a 1st pitch bomb to tie it.

And I love Biggio's reaction.

I think my fav, or atleast the most underrated IMO, were the phenomenal at bats Springer and Bregs had with 2 outs to work walks setting the table for Altuve

It’s easy to remember now how Yuli’s 3 run homer was quickly answered by Bellinger which was quickly answered by Altuve

But there were 2 outs and nobody on base before Altuve

Also, Altuve hitting a BOMB that went foul right before his 3 run homer

I had 4 Dodgers faithful sitting behind me for all 3 games

3 baseball guys and one of their young sons

I turned around before that 3-2 pitch and said, "How do you throw Altuve a strike here? No way! He wants to tie it and will chase anything close."

He said, "IDK?"

Boom! Tie game

They had to leave when it was 8-8 b/c of their flight

Nice folks.

That sucks for them in a sense. But the Dodgers lost, of course.

I don't remember being coherent enough to post during that Game. The stadium was lit. Once yuli hit the HR it gets foggy. I've never had that Much adrenaline at game in my life. I never want to experience that kind of torture again.

This doesn’t look too good. Hopefully it’s still precautionary.

It's some kind of surgery for sure. Which means at least a couple months. If not longer. That sucks.

Overall, it appears that with time, player's who succumb to a hamate injury will find themselves back to previous power numbers upon their return to play, though it will probably take roughly a full season of at bats to do so. Of course a number of other factors could predispose a player to not bounce back quite as quickly or as robustly—age of injury, previous injury history, and even the time it took for correct diagnosis and treatment approach all play potential roles—but compared to other upper extremity injuries, the outlook for a full return to health and hitting power with the hamate fracture is generally promising

4 to 6 weeks is standard before being cleared for baseball Activity. He will then basically need to have his spring training which I'm guessing is a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks.

The pitch fx study I read says nearly all players who have had the surgery eventually return to the same Level Of power as pre injury... However it usually takes a full season of at bats before it stabilizes. The one player out of 21 in the study who.had a drop in power was nick markakis. He was the oldest player to have the surgery at 28. Yuli is 33.

I estimate the 2nd week of May to be a good target to see yuli in the Houston lineup assuming no setbacks.
The good news is he's not really a power hitter but we can expect less power during the season with a possible uptick toward the end Of the year.
