The verdict is in: by erasing the identity of black bodies, Dabo is complicit in systemic oppression. I'm calling on him to resign.

quote:

Dabo Swinney was talking to Clemson DT coach Todd Bates this a.m. "Love doesn’t see color. Hate does. Hatred has no heart. Love does."

White ally claps back at him

quote:

I have to see you as a black man, otherwise I can't understand that your experience in this country is extremely different from mine as a white woman. "I don't see color" really means "I'm very uncomfortable talking or thinking about how I might be complicit in systemic racism"

ETA: "Dabo" is trending on Twitter, Bomani Jones weighs in
quote:

my take on dabo when it comes to race and the likes has been pretty consistent: i understand how a poor white man who somehow parlayed meager physical talents into playing for bama, and worked his way to being the top college coach can't *believe* america ain't great.

Either you or the idiot that you copied and pasted should learn his name before calling for his resignation.

Coaches will need to start using focus groups before releasing statements.

Trying to imagine Saban, Coach O, etc being lectured by a bunch of green-haired pangenders on how to be a white ally

Isn't that the liberal motto of the new Millenium?

I wonder if he notices color when he's recruiting RBs and DBs

Dabo is getting dragged (trending on Twitter)

quote:

I’m just gonna say this here, because this black man doesn’t have the energy for a whole column for a grown arse man named “Dabo.”

Young black men. If you think playing for him will do wonders for you career.

Do you.

Just know that he will never give a f**k about you.

Anything you say can be used to paint you whatever 'ist' or 'ism' they want.

The rules can be twisted or changed at any time to convict you.

Stop releasing statements period. They are football coaches, not politicians, not philosophers, not theologians.

They shouldn't be required to give societal commentary any more than your local roofer is.

I don't see the problem with Dabo's comment. And it was undoubtedly taken out of context.

Sorry that you're too privileged to see the oppression inflicted on black bodies on a daily basis in AmeriKKKa

Dabo is full of shite, but so is Bomani, who is so quick to tell other people how to feel, but will always play the "I'm more evolved than you" card when someone comes back at him.

Everything is these days. If he said he had no comment because he is just a football coach, they would be saying his silence is deafening, etc.
