I think they do know as evidenced by them being #4 in the poll. The only way I see them missing out is if Florida beats Bama (2 SEC teams in) and Clemson beats ND in a close game (two ACC teams in). It would be odd having your CFP consist of only two conferences, but at that point all four teams have a better resume and only 1 loss. No chance in hell they let a 2 loss team in with an undefeated OSU.

Maybe Dabo is scared of playing OSU. But it won’t matter. Norte Dame is gonna beat Clemson again so they will be out of the playoff......

Why would we be afraid of a team that's never beat us?

Of course, I wouldn't mind the number 3 team playing Coastal and the number 4 team playing Cincinnati beforehand. But alas.

Exactly. Those two conferences were busy playing politics and virtue signaling while everybody else played. Let their 6 game champs play each other in the Rose Bowl in front of no fans. Move the CFP from the Rose to the Orange or Cotton so fans can attend.

They HAVE to decide. They don’t get to say “we don’t know”. If I was on the committee and couldn’t decide I would default to what I DID know and maybe they will do that and put Florida or Texas A&M in. Right now they seem to believe OSU is one of the 4 best. I for one am fine with how ever it works out.

All the SEC SEC SEC rah rah fans kills me every year.

A&M has one win over a currently ranked team and a 4 TD loss. OSU has one win over a currently ranked team but will have more ranked wins if they win the B1G.

If one team played 4 games and beat Bama UF ND and OSU and that was their entire resume they would be in as they should be. Quality of teams should always matter

I mean the ACC just changed their rules so Clemson and ND have a bye week before the conference title game.

Everyone is navigating this in their best interests to have the best shot at the playoffs

Not everyone played only 5 games.

A lot of people don’t. OSU is probably a top 4 team on talent and coaching, but the regular season needs to mean something. And the way it’s going it’s meaning less and less

Every year we see a bunch of "contenders" at 5-0 or 6-0 and they die down. Games are played for a reason.

And ohio st. fans, of all people, should know this, considering some of the pratfalls their erstwhile worldbeating-looking teams have taken over the years (like the Purdue game).

I'll give you the game after the 2016 season but 2 of the last 3 games came down to the last possession. The other three games were a 2 point, 5 point and 6 point win. They were all very good games. Don't act like Ohio State doesn't belong on the same field as Clemson.

because we feel like we're definitely one of the best four teams in the country and there's nothing that's going to happen in that game next week for Clemson or Notre Dame that's going to change that in my opinion. And that's based on data

This is what’s wrong with the CFP era. Wins and losses almost don’t matter as much as they used to. Oh yeah they lost but the eye test and specific data points indicate they’re really the best.

I agree. A 28+ point loss to anyone should exclude you from the playoff.

Well considering they didn’t win a single game against Clemson in all the games they’ve played them, maybe they don’t...

I don't think they belong in the playoffs be it Ohio State, A&M or anyone else.
