Cubs just traded Darvish to Padres

And not 1 top 10 prospect in return.

Think this will be a good trade for Cubs long term getting some promising looking lotto tickets for someone they couldn’t have given away 18 months ago. Don’t see him repeating anything close to those 2020 numbers when he’s not feasting on those shite AL/NL central offenses every start. I know he started turning it around at the end of ‘19, but he isn’t anything close to Snell.
Wouldn’t be shocked at all if Davies is better next year.

This was a sell off. Ricketts must've told Jed to unload salary. All those prospects are high risk, high upside type guys, and they're all teenagers. They won't see the big leagues for a few years if they pan out. Maybe there are more moves to come, but this is pretty disappointing. Seems like they're hitting the reset button.

Caissie, Preciado and Mena haven’t played a game in the pros yet. Tough to garner prospect love at that age without playing, especially international guys.
All have good size for being 17/18.
Yu is owed like $60 mil and was an utter disaster his first 50 starts with the Cubs. His return would’ve been putrid before last season

I can't really hate it if the Padres take on a good portion of the $60 plus million owed to Darvish.

I don't expect Darvish to repeat as he did in 2020 but being able to offload at least half his remaining contract would be nice.
