quote:Are you kidding? The doc would be better served to not have Craig James, one of the primary sources? Or Brent Musberger, the biggest broadcaster in college football in the 80s, who covered SMU games? That is a bizarre stance. Why not James instead try and strain credibility as the only clean player on SMU and let the audience decide to not believe him?
It comprimises the integrity of the documentary format. In fact This would have been perfect had they left out the James/Musberger opining

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised after watching 30 for 30 that Craig James didn't take money to play at SMU.
In fact it was encouraging to note that he actually almost didn't sign with SMU because he heard they were paying players and he had to check it out thoroughly to make sure it was on the up and up before he signed.
I don't believe this one bit. Neither do I believe Eric Dickerson that the Trans Am was purchased by his grandma for him.
There is no way that Craig James did not take perks.

It's ok. No one else does either.

I think they made it clear that aTm bought the Trans Am and SMU took over the payments.

You got it wrong. It was an uncle, if you're referring to JH.
ETA: Sorry, didn't read the rest of the thread to see him named.

Bigger mistake is James being with the same woman since his senior year in high school.
