I read the first post and laugh at anyone that thinks they could. You couldn't get a shot off
You are an idiot. There are former college mens players on Tigerdroppings. There are plenty of 6'5" dudes who were good at basketball player. This thread could fill 10 pages with guys who have posted on tigerdroppings who can beat her. Whether the people saying they could are the ones who can do it is the question....

re think what?
most scholarship players at the end of rosters of D-1 schools, even those at BCS conferences, suck.
D-2 is comparable to a rec league at a big school, like say LSU. THey have some good players, but there is a reason they are playing D-2.

the question is, why isn't Pistol2K or HammondTiger playing in the NBA or at least the DLeague? Who would win this colossal matchup one on one?
I got first dibs on HammondTiger. He ran from my challenge.

So you think some guy that played at southeastern or something who, for the sake of argument, is 6'5 and couldn't make it to the D league or overseas can beat her?
I would put money down that she could hang with LSU mens players.
Nobody on TD can hang with her
Are you a woman or just delusional?

There are 22 starting spots on a football team (more if you want to include special teams, gunners, and 3rd down backs). There are only 5 starting spots on a basketball team.
Or 85 man roster vs. 12 man roster. My point is that there is still some decent non d1 talent. He was using 300 schools, and I was showing that while that is a ton, that is not really that many players.

quote:lol I also had invited walk on status at a Div. 1 major conference school. The good D-2 schools are better than the bad D-1 schools.
i know there are over 300 division 1 schools that play basketball. And if you can't land a scholarship to play at one of them, generally you aren't very good.
quote:Too much info. I was an average player for that level. Wasn't even a starter until part of my junior year and my senior year. Guy I starter in front of and split time with played professionally over seas for while after college. Guy I played against in our conference was a D-1 transfer that had a fairly successful NBA career.
But you wont even name the school or how good of a player you were.
quote:I was a 2 and a 3. We had some decent bigs on our team and in our league. I did play the 4 spot some when we went small.
You are 6'4", you were probably the teams center
quote:You are a moron. I have played rec leagues at several big schools and it isn't even comparable.
D-2 is comparable to a rec league at a big school, like say LSU.
ETA: I will add that it can vary widely among Div. 2 teams. Also, good basketball players are a dime a dozen. They fill colleges at multiple levels, including junior college.

I agree, there will be some good players sprinkled in. This site is huge.
but when a 6' person says "i need 3 months to practice", chances are he is not very good and has been out of it too long to beat a beast like Griner.

That would be wrong. So you are saying if Louisiana college walked into the LSU rec center they would lose?

so you were a 1 year starter at an unnamed D-2 school and you think you could take Griner despite now being in your 30's?

I think I could take Griner - have you notice how fricking slow and scare crow like she is?

im saying they have 10 kids walking the campus of LSU that could play at LA College.
Good HS players that didn't chase their dream after school ended.
of course they would probably lose. They don't formally practice, have no coach, generally lack good big men(like D2 schools) etc.

Nope, unless some one showed them what a bar looked like.

quote:Yes. She can't play one on one, can't stay in front of me, can't out jump me and couldn't dribble around me. One on one isn't her game.

If we played a pick up game and guarded each other, it would be a much better match up.

Now that I'm old and fat no. But there is no way when I was her age she could have beaten me at one on one.

she wouldn't have to stay in front of you every possession. She could chase you down and still block your shot.
She doesn't have to jump either. SHe is 6'8" and has a 7'2" wingspan. Anyone south of 6'4" or so would have problems scoring on her.

You also commented that a college team could beat an NFL team in an earlier thread.... You understand nothing about relative comparison of sporting levels. You would think a standout junior high girl player could beat a "scrub" NBA player who never sees the floor. You really are that delusional.

Yes, but you go practice for 2 addition years and then tell me who would be better. The guy who went or the guy who was offered and didn't go.

If you can shoot, she'd have to come guard you on the perimeter at which point you blow by her and she's not at the rim to block your shot...I mean are you kidding? I've played against 6-8 guys and driven past them. Griner is a slow girl. One on one with any athletic male, that can actually play ball at a good level, she would get toasted
