she is still equivalent to a 7'4" when she is playing men the same size as the women she plays.

No one here is claiming she can beat real college basketball players. Certainly not me.

No, she is not....... The 6 feet women that she is playing against are only in the league because they are already freakishly tall. They will have the skills and body control of a 6 foot 7 man with none of the height advantages. Do you understand what I mean by standard deviations?

from what Ive seen she could. I havent watched too much of her, but i have seen her dribble in the open court before.

But the open court is not the same as someone playing you chest to chest.

Honestly someone like Candace Parker is WAY more skilled than Griner and could probably take some guys off the dribble.

Candace Parker would probably kick my arse because she can drive and she can shoot.

you dont think a lot of blocks would happen if a 6'8" played a 6' player?

No, I didn't say she wouldn't block shots against 6 foot players. You completely crawfished.

You said she would absolutely shut down anybody under 6'4". Now you are saying she would get a lot of blocks on a 6 foot player. Depending on how athletic they are and what their strategy was, she might get a handful of blocks. It wouldn't be an end all as if they were trying to shoot over Anthony Davis though.

im not saying a 6' male is the same as a 6' female. But she is 6'8". That is a huge advantage against any person 6', man or woman. Your deviations mean nothing in that scenario when just talking about a normal joe blow basketball player

She still has a major shot blocking advantage.

I said anyone south of 6'3" would have a tough time scoring against her.

you are putting a ton of words in my mouth.

i know Slyvia Fowles could

What does that have to do with anything?

There are a umber of female basketball players that would be much more difficult to beat in one on one than Griner.

because people are assuming she can't "dribble more than 3 times" without ever seeing her dribble.

figured most of them would have seen Sylvia Fowles play. She could. Candance Parker could. It's not that rare.

I'm not talking about a normal joe blow. I am saying that as long as the sample to choose from is big enough, you will be able to find a guy to beat her. Because of the deviation, the tallest guy out of a small group of men is freakishly tall for a girl AND still has the coordination you would expect from his height. I am not saying that all 6 footers can beat her.

You are completely overestimating her though. She is a good woman's basketball player. Nothing more, nothing less. Girl's sports are like special olympics. They exist at low levels because they don't let anybody who is good play.

Neither are 6'8" and more importantly, neither are Griner. Both were much more coordinated than Griner as it relates to moving with the basketball.

That is like saying Shaq can handle the ball because Lamar Odom can.

My mistake, that is correct. But you did say she wouldn't even have to jump and seem to think she would win. If she's not absolutely shutting them down on defense inside, she sure as hell isnt winning on quickness.

Im not going to argue to much more on this, but go watch the sports science on her

go to about 1:20

LINK

I just don't think how people think it would be so easy to get a shot off on her.

As this video shows early, she has bigger hands than Lebron and a bigger wingspan than Andrew Bynum. She has serious shot blocking capabilities.

If Chris Paul at 6'0" can drive on 7 footers in the NBA and finish, then a 6'0" who is a skilled guard could have some chance.

Never, ever compare any on TD to cp3.

But I get your point.

She would beat the shite out of 99% of people on this board.
She has the same wingspan as Anthony Davis and is 6'8.

I agree with 770000 posters. That would leave 770 people who could beat her.
