You wanted off the coaching carousel so you didn’t even do a search and gave it to the below-average local guy who would never leave you.

Now 4 weeks into his tenure and you can’t beat ULM.

Congratulations on voluntarily going from the national rankings to 4th best team in Louisiana in less than a month.

I knew it was over when they lost to Rice.

But, "he's one of us". Didn't we learn that this is not a reason to hire a coach?

Florida took 2 of their best players, 1 being one of the top OL in the country. That being said, they are worse than they should be

He’s been bad at all the “university of Louisiana’s” he’s coached.

Well done ULL

Perfect logic for hiring a coach

I've been very clear on here that I wanted to go the Arkansas State/Boise route of flowing aspiring coaches in who are hungry and will stop at nothing for that head SEC/Big 10 job.

MARTIN HALL wanted off the coaching carousel. The ghost of Ray Authement is still in that building doing his best to kill Cajun athletics from the inside.

There is still a good bit of talent (Sun Belt-wise) on those sidelines. You can tell by just looking at the Cajun players vs. Rice or ULM.

Problem is, we now have a high school staff that can't do shite with that talent. Hell...Ricky Bustle would know what to do with them. He'd be salivating at our current roster to work with.

Incidentally, both Chris, Frank and Mike are from New Iberia. We are the home of great hair cuts, but shitty coaches.

Frank is doing pretty good at SLU. All of the Scelfos are really good people.

How many of the “safe” hires or “one of us” hires in CFB been the home run hire? Or even the infield single hire? Dabo?

To be fair to Chris Scelfo he went 8-5 and won the Hawaii Bowl and had a talented team coming back with JP Losman as a Senior and President Cowen decided to attempt to get rid of football and have the god awful review during the off-season. He also stopped letting him get kids in that off season as well. Before that he was recruiting at a very high level for Tulane and appeared to be trending in the right direction.

it’s not so bad. It’s kinda nice not being nervous/let down every Saturday. You just become numb

Kirby at UGA, if that applies to that category. Yeah, otherwise it rarely does a ton.

I must admit that I was super impressed with the AD up until this football hire. I thought Deggs was an absolute steal for ULL to get. I thought they would for sure go the route of hiring the next up and comers, like you mentioned, and ULL would continue to be a very solid program.

That didn't happen once they hired Desermeaux. It gave me flashbacks of LSU hiring Ed O. Now I question if the AD is worth a damn at all. Was Deggs a great hire, or was he just in the line of "one of us" hires that this AD will make, and Deggs just so happened to be a hot name, so he fit both categories?

Yeah, my question with the hire was if Desermeaux is so great wouldn't he have been living in Gainesville, FL right now?

They lost a bunch of money over covid and panic hired due to it.

They bonded a dick load of stuff over the last decade which was ok until they lost that entire revenue stream for a year in addition to March madness money

When you're paying a SBC coach 2.5 mil you're over spending no matter who it is. Even the 750 they're paying this guy is too much. I believe apps coach makes something like 450k and they have more consistent attendance

Huds was a douchebag but he was great at community outreach and getting the city to turn out
