Conference realignment fatigue

Very excited for the season to start. But the constant barrage of conference realignment banter is exhausting. As a fellow LSU alum and fan, it’s of no interest to me. The new additions to the SEC are intriguing, but I couldn’t care less about the Big 10 suitors and all the PAC12 calamity.

Is anyone else feeling this way?

the NCAA needs to be eliminated at this point. They clearly serve no purpose with all of this realignment

Then don't pay attention to them. Easy fix. Hope you get some rest and don't let this realignment fatigue hit you too hard.

Unfortunately that's the way of things. I can understand the feeling, but to some degree you have to look at it because it will affect the future of the SEC and any future opponents LSU could have. It's not if but when. Don't think the commissioner isn't looking at the possible moves the B1G is making and not preparing to make their own. Florida State and Clemson have been itching to pull the trigger away from the ACC but due to the backlash from Florida and South Carolina kept that from happening. Fast forward to 2024..Texas and Texas A&M with Oklahoma are back together. It will no longer be an issue. It's not if but when. All I can say is buckle up.

They will. They're trying to hold onto what power they can but its just too late. Too much money, sponsors and power involved. And now that states have laws on the books regarding NIL, they're powerless to pursue anything without being sued. They already lacked subpoena power. If they're smart, they would just stick to DII and DIII football and the rest of the sports and hope and pray that men's basketball isn't next to slip away.

I'm actually enjoying watching them implode.

It isn't good for fans.

Its only good for TV money.

Conferences back in the early 90s made more sense geographically and you could actually reasonably attend games.

But oh well.

10 is even better than 12. You can have a true round robin with 10.

Read something this morning about FSU looking to leave the ACC. They fit geographically and historically as a "SEC worthy" team but I'm not sure I want more teams

It'll end up being two big conferences with divisions resembling the old conferences (i.e. old Pac 10 division of new Big 10, etc.)

As a fan of a school who was left stranded last round of realignment, I want as much chaos as I can get. Misery loves company. Burn it all to the ground.

yep

CFB, collectively, is run by idiots. And now people like Nick Saban want Congress involved, which will surely make it worse.

Actually, they were better when they had 10 or fewer schools. The SEC was great at 10, there were more quality non-conference games in football and they played a double round-robin in basketball.

Just rip off the bandaid and get it over with. Merge the PAC with the B1G, the XII with the SEC, an split the ACC into two geographic halves with the north going to the B1G and the south going to the SEC and be done with it. That's where it's heading anyway. Then college sports will be two conferences with geographic divisions in the west, southwest, southeast, atlantic, midwest, and northeast - essentially what we had before all this started but getting the NCAA out of the way.

It’s been a cluster f for over a decade now. Maybe it will settle down into set conferences for a while but more likely there will be continuing expansions, mergers and ridiculous coast to coast alignments
