and there are no crap games in the regular season...
Unless you're a fan of a good team that happens to be playing Jacksonville that weekend.

i have time for sports, for the most part (i did miss the games last night for a date), but i just don't give as much of a shite. also, other things seem to be occupying my interests/attention span that i value more highly than sports
it's cyclical
being an introvert by nature warps this a bit, though. a slight obsessive nature does as well. if i find something i enjoy for that time period, that's all i need to occupy my attention. sports, at the moment, don't rank at the top

The entire concept of fandom is ridiculous.
College football is nothing but a business, what is all this talk about school spirit, pageantry, rivalries?
It's all an illusion of the mind.
They just want you to think that shite actually matters so they can continue to make bank.
At the end of the day college football is just another example of the lower classes feeding the bourgeoisie.

Just because it makes money doesn't take away from the fact you sit down with your kids/parents and create memories.
My dad and I went to multiple games at Fenway with Pedro Martinez and Roger Clemons pitching against each other, and I understand the Red Sox made money from us, but I was able to witness greatness with the man I most respect in life. That memory was worth more than the money we paid for fuel, tickets, game tickets, and concessions.

Oregon devised a solution to slow its exodus: fast food. If the Ducks score 40 points, those who stay for the whole time earn a free "Jumbo Jack" hamburger from Jack in the Box. The team held up its end of the deal for three of its four conference games last year, when the reward was tacos.

I see no reason why LSU should be adding seats other than the appearance of keeping up with the Jones'.
As I got older its just way too much of a hassle. I will make A&M and probably Florida. Way too much bullshite. When I walk out the stadium I am sober and have a headache . Everyone has been getting shitfaced and I cant take them sober and I cant leave because the cocksucking traffic.

+Eleventy billion.
The expense and hassle aren't worth it anymore. I do like to go to one game a year but that is it.

One thing I haven't seen quoted is the expense. College football is starting to price people out. It has become too expensive - even student tickets may not be worth it to some of these kids on a tight budget

yeah, truly, i dont even pay attention to games much these days. the main thing that kept my interest in the past was betting and even that bores me for the most part.
idk, the whole college football culture has just been infested with peasants (as with most things when they reach this level of mainstreaming).

I remember when LSU started their current stadium expansion, and I thought it was a mistake. With media coverage going the way it's been going, attendance will continue to drop. There's pretty much no reason for any school to expand its stadium at this point, and there may never again be a time when schools expand stadiums. Baylor, Tulane, California, and Stanford are four examples of schools who have chosen to drastically reduce their stadium's capacity. Rumors are that the Raiders are planning on building a stadium that seats fewer than 50,000.
There's no reason you should be sitting so far away from the action that you can't read the names on the jerseys or hear the band, and fans are figuring that out. There will be a lot of empty upper deck seats in Tiger Stadium in the next few years.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Traffic, unbearable heat or cold, and blowout games have always been around. Ticket prices have skyrocketed of course.
People have more entertainment options, and the TV coverage is light years better these days.
I also liked Texas' stadium much better in the old days. It had a little "southwestern" character and was cool looking with the big 6 flags of TX.
Now, it's just a cookie cutter, optimally laid out so taco bell ads can play at 5 million decibels from the big advertising board.
