Do you understand that a guys mechanics play a bigger part in injury than just number of pitches. And it's not like that was the first time he threw a ball in months. I didn't like seeing him go the distance but some guys can do it others can't. None of the scouts I talked to this weekend thought it was an issue mainly due to his mechanics.

Hell Skip killed a few arms in his time, especially Mestepay.

Mechanics degrade when a pitcher is over extended, which can easily happen with a high pitch count early in a season. He definitely made the likelihood of injury go up.

Yeah, mechanics play a big part but if you're throwing your best pitcher more than 100 pitchers in the opening game, you're not helping him out. Maybe try to use that bullpen some.

I was out there this weekend. Tulane doesn't have much strength in the middle order from what I could see. Pretty decent pitching staff. ND's 3B is a stud. Left hand hitting 3B who hits for power and can run very well for a big guy.

Yep, Tulane has pretty much zero hitting.

And what arms has Jones destroyed?

Pitching has looked decent, I'm assuming Randy Leblanc is done?
Also what's up with the two Catholic kids, Massey and Facundus?

Definitely not a great coach, maybe a good coach. He has been dealt a tough hand though. I don't think he's helping himself out with some of these kids he's giving scholarships to.

Smith is pretty good he'll get a win sooner or later. I'm trying to figure out, How did Chalmette not atleast win that terrible district when he was there?

because john ehret's bats ran it and we never were consistent enough to hit with them... we did beat grace king 2 out of 3 and snuck into the playoffs as a district runner up, the best district finish by any boys team for chalmette since we joined 5A.

i thought Smith would be a scrub for D3 UNO, not hold his own in D1... the coaches must be putting in work with him.

he did get a win last year, but not against D1

Dont know how to judge the lions this weekend.

They played small. Their pitching wasnt bad until sunday even though the game started in bigbad LSU's favor. What i listened to on sunday says the bats are similar to last year, content with singles. And runners have to stay aggressive or they will be left on the path (One reason they lost 13-1 on sunday).

Final conclusion; its early in the season and this is college baseball.
