How many rookies contributed at the TE position last year?

Now, how many rookie RB's contributed?

The WR or TE you use matters a lot

Wr yeah, TE no

Bengals had one of the more prolific offenses last year and their TE had 400 yards on the season

Kelce was the only TE to have 1,00 yards last year and only Hockenson and Andrews had over 800 yards

Only 10 total TEs had over 55 catches last year.

You know how many catches Saquon had last year? 57

Once again, I understand why it’s happening and this thread isn’t to argue that running backs should get paid more. I’m just saying, I understand why they are upset when middle of the pack TE’s can make more than the best running backs in the league.

And while running backs are entirely replaceable, they still make up a huge percentage of offensive production for most teams, and are often one of the most recognizable players on the team, that is not the case for most TE’s outside of the elite guys

It's only "insane" if you don't realize the money that's being generated and you suck at math.

There are like 5 TEs every season worth a wet fart. That’s why they’re paid. And the best one, Kelce, is vastly underpaid.

The NFL is shortchanging the running back position regardless of production.

Rookie RBs have come into the NFL and finished top 3 in rushing. Rookie TEs NEVER finish top 3, not even top 20 in receiving at their own position. It is much harder to find production at TE than it is RB. Hence why Kmet is being paid.

He was 13th amongst TEs last year in yards

He was 13th in yards in the worst passing offense last year. Doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out Kmet is legit (he’s also a very good blocker).

6 TEs had more than 5 TDs last season. KMet was one with arguably the worst passing attack in the NFL.

Mahomes would wreck some shite with KMet. As would most top passing QBs.

I don’t think you realize why RBs are getting paid less. It’s not because they don’t produce, because they do. It’s because you find cheaper alternatives (RBs on rookie contracts) that give you essentially the same production. It’s not like Front Offices just decided to quit paying them. What RBs are going through today is solely due to the rookie contract scale. Why pay a guy $10m per season when I can draft a 22yr old that’ll likely give me similar production. Saquon’s rookie season is still his best season.

They are paid what the Market says their worth. No such thing as overpaid.

Rbs is an easily replaceable position and the players are on the decline during their second contract. If you want TE money, be a TE.

From a roster management perspective, having all those RBs also serve as your special teams guys means you are getting more jobs done for less money

Special teams guy is a really good way to avoid the majority of cuts.

How much of this is a outcome of size norms?

There are only 4 positions guys under 6'1 can play in the NFL (which is like 95% of men). RB is really the only one that doesn't take freakish skill or speed. So there is a massive glut of guys that can do it at a replacement level. Most of those guys can't play another position..

What?

Dude is a traditional TE specimen and great blocker who has been underutilized in a crap passing offense. Guys built like that with that much football skill do not grow on trees.
