MAGAnese believe in the deep state and world order or cabal or whatever and have the “us normal ppl versus the evil others” and if you aren’t with them you’re evil.
Leftists worship the Bernie sanders of the world that preach left wing populism, common man vs corporations. Common man vs the uber rich. And if you aren’t with them, you’re evil.
Then throw in the social policies each group attaches to arbitrarily while also drawing a line in the sand of good vs evil based on those policies.
I don’t know when the shift happened, but our whole country shifted towards populism.
