Coaches with the most conference wins in each of the P4 conferences

Maybe I shouldn't be, but I'm surprised about Dabo being the ACC's all-time leader for conference wins.

I was surprised too so looked a little into it. The first 15 years of Bowden's career FSU was independent. Even after joining the ACC, they didn't have a championship game like dabo has the luxury of until almost the end of his career.
Bowden's career has been monumentally more impressive than dabo's regardless of these numbers.

Kirk Ferentz will likely pass Woody Hayes in 2028 or 2029.

I wouldn't say "monumentally more impressive," though I would agree he has had the better career and greater legacy. If we're judging strictly by performance in the ACC, Dabo is closer to Bowden than you would think:
Conference championships:
Bowden - 12
Dabo - 9
National championships:
Bowden - 2
Dabo - 2
National championship appearances:
Bowden - 5
Dabo - 4

I'm surprised Tom Osborne isn't higher. Maybe they're not counting the Big Eight under the Big XII?

I don't think they are.
If you look at his head coaching record on Wikipedia, he easily beats Bob Stoops in all-time conference wins (153 vs. 128).

I would, and even that may be underselling it.
-Dabo has made his whole entire legacy/career on the back of 2 "generational", transcendent, #1 overall QB draft picks. Granted, he did recruit them and get them to clemson. I'm not taking that away from him. My point is that all of the truly great elite coaches throughout history have shown that they can win in multiple ways or without relying one one guy. Dabo without trevor/deshaun is basically a worse version of mark richt. It's why I, even though it's wildly unpopular, kinda don't really think vince dooley should be rated as highly as he is, because honestly the main parts of his career success are simply due to Herschel.
-To expand on the above, Bowden not only won big with stud QBs but he also won with not so stud QBs either.
-It goes without sayign that Bowden finishing in the top 5 (end of season) for 15 straight years is one of the more impressive coaching feats in CFB history. That alone is more impressive to me than anything dabo has ever done.
-Who is clemson's biggest annual nemisis the last 15 years in the regular season? Ga tech? An FSU that is as two faced as auburn? Bowden had to face spurrier's gators and a more often than not great Miami team all thorugh the 90s.

these are largely irrelevant when you consider the different landscape they've played in. For the vast majority of bowden's career you jsut had to pray that you got slotted into a bowl game that would allow voters to call you champion if you happened to win it. Then after the BCS was formed in 98 you had to practically be undefeated to make your way into the top 2 at year's end. Comapre that to dabo who has played in an era with 4 and now 12 teams making the playoffs and getting a title shot. Margin for error for bowden was absolutely razor thin whereas dabo can lose 3 games in a weak league and still coast into the postseason.

I mean...Bowden won his two national championships with two QBs that won Heismans (Charlie Ward and Chris Weinke). That's really no different than Dabo Swinney winning national championships with the likes of Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence, neither of whom ever won a Heisman Trophy.
Without the national championships he won in 1993 and 1999, Bobby Bowden would be remembered far differently than he is today.

Meh. Not so much by the time he got to the ACC. The Bowl Coalition began in 1992, the very first year the Seminoles were playing in a conference, and that system was going out of its way trying to match #1 vs. #2 in the postseason. He was the beneficiary of it in its second year when his top-ranked Seminoles defeated second-ranked Nebraska in the Orange Bowl to clinch his first national championship.

I thought saban had 148 regular season and 11 CG game wins? That would be 1 more than the Bear.

The number is conference wins.

It will prove that Ferentz had ultimate longevity with a 30 year run at 1 school.

Absolutely not.
How many coaches have the longevity of a Kirk Ferentz?
Posted on 8/6/26 at 4:06 pm to WG_Dawg
Dabo has more conference wins, but I wonder if Bowden has more win against ACC schools?

And more games per year is important too. OSU only played 12 games in 5 of Woody's 28 years at OSU. They played in 9 games 16 years.
Iowa plays in 13 games a year usually with the bowl game. Even if Kirk goes 9-4 he is getting more wins per year than Woody in most seasons.
So when you combine both of those it makes a lot of sense. Kirk has also been pretty good for a long time with a couple of great years

Bowden’s last few years at Free Shoes U weren’t great, despite him winning something like his first 30-50 ACC games.

FSU didn't join the ACC until 1992 and Bowden's last season was 2009.

That's about the only thing he will pass anybody in

He already passed everyone in big ten history in total wins at a big ten school.

I agree with the Buckeye here. You don’t even have to go back that far. Even the 97 Wolverines team went 12-0, which also includes the Rose Bowl victory.
Now we are getting 15/16 game schedules that will potentially grow if we expand the playoffs?
