So... If he still owns 332,000,000 shares, then that would mean his net worth (just im msft) is right at 125 billion (msft is trading @ $374) and he's ONLY getting a billion off that?

This comes after the tech giant boosted its quarterly dividend payout to 75 cents a share, or $3 a share annually.
This is great news. I have over 17 shares MSFT. I'm going to be making dozens a year. If you combine us, Ballmer and I are worth about almost $112 Billion.

Sorry but you’re a moron… there wouldn’t be shareholders if they didn’t get rewarded
Second, Amazon, Google and Berkshire Hathaway all don't pay dividends but again, you're too stupid to try and learn a little so you thought you knew something, called me a moron, and turns out you didn't know what you were talking about. Crazy how those companies have shareholders since you told us they wouldn't without paying dividends.

If there's enough revenue being diverted back to the company and the company is financially stable enough to make that payment to shareholders, then you ABSOfrickINGLUTELY give that much to your shareholders.

quote:Thanks, this is a good breakdown.
As an investor, you have to decide whether you want to own a company that pays dividends and whether the dividends are a good use of company cash. It's different from company to company and companies that pay dividends are generally not expected to grow as much as companies that don't.
Microsoft is paying around 22% of their net income back as dividends and with the amount of cash they generate that gives them enough to reinvest in the company.
And fightingtigers98 had a similar breakdown, thanks to both of you

That's just from dividend payments, if he sold the stock he'd get far more.

I believe it's $2.79 I think it's around $25 billion in total payments. I don't really understand giving that much money to shareholders, sure seems they'd be better putting that to use back in the company, no?
It’s 2.79 for the year. Microsoft pays a 0.8% dividend yield. Which means they’re paying relatively shite compared to comparably sized companies in terms of how much money they give to shareholders as dividends. It’s a growth stock, not a dividend stock. Microsoft is worth $2.8 TRILLION right now, $25 billion is chump change for them. This is another case of people not understanding how things work, and stupid journalists just capitalize on shock value to try and rile poor people up

To put this into perspective for all the financial idiots - Ballmer is making $1B pre-tax (which he’ll pay 65%+ on) as a dividend return on $112B in Microsoft stock investments. That’s several times below a high yield savings account return, much less actual inflation. If the stock didn’t grow at all, he’d be losing his arse to inflation on that stock. This dividend is chump change for him

Almost as bad as Warren Douglas Stadium.

Agreed, I'm not saying it isn't.
I'm just laughing at Ballmer trying to justify his time at CEO in this thread.
Steve Jobs didn't know much about tech either, but he knew what he and, by extension, the public wanted in personal computing. Ballmer's foresight was the exact opposite and it's a big reason why Microsoft stalled from an innovation standpoint.

He most definitely will not be paying a 65%+ tax rate.
