I disagree. Auburn, due to being in the West, playing UGA out of the east every year, and typically scheduling one ooc good game typically had one of the tougher schedules year in and year out.
I like having a bunch of good games to look forward to during the season. It does suck that under the current system, getting to the playoffs will take a near miracle while other teams essentially only have to win 1 or 2 difficult games to get there.

He says the next few years are light because of the Mandated ND game.
Meaning that's the tough one

Every FBS major conference school gets a cupcake. The real terrible thing is the date of the citidal game but that's likely because UL and Ga Tech need to be done with conference play early so they can play their OOC rivalry on rivalry week

I'm saying they may have been looking at that a few years ago thinking that would have been a tough game that is a non-conference/conference game or whatever. I don't want to get started on ND. If I were making the schedule, and my magic 8 ball said FSU and Miami and everyone else were still going to suck, i'd schedule 3 OOC power schools.

Look how many had winning records last year.

Not a good way to do this. It's not awful, but for example Miami just got the best transfer QB on the market. How did that work for LSU/OSU/OU fans this last season? I don't think this kid is any of those QBs, but they could jump up to a 9-10 win team with 1 QB in the ACC.

Teams change a ton year to year in CFB. Of course on paper it looks weak based on 2019, but it's 2020 now so lets judge the ACC on how it performs then

Edit: I know they don't play Miami but teams change a ton. Maybe FSU is really good next year; we all know they have some serious talent there

want the committee though to not just plug them in there simply by going undefeated
this made sense when they were looking for two teams in the BCS

But an undefeated P5 conference champion will get in 100% of the time, and everyone knows that going in

But that’s dumb

An undefeated Clemson this year should absolutely have been behind a 1 loss LSU

South Carolina can be a good team at times.

Generally, South Carolina is an average to above-average. They've won double-digit games just four times in program history, though three of those came consecutively within the last decade. Seems like awhile ago, though, with all the uneven results since that time.

no

they were the defending national champions and had won 29 straight

the fact that they were not the unanimous #1 team all season was testament enough to their schedule

Sure they should and maybe would in a BCS ranking, but the Committee wasn't going to do that.

That said even if they did an undefeated Clemson would still be in the playoff.

They aren't scheduling Notre Dame. They're getting Notre Dame in rotation with other ACC teams as part of ND being semi-affiliated with the ACC for football.

Whether they schedule them or they end up on the schedule because of conference affiliation, they still play them and should get credit if they win. It’s like in the Big10, every year one team seems to have a year where they only play one “major” conference opponent like OSU or Penn State or Wisconsin.

Clemson's OOC for 2021 is South Carolina State, Wyoming, UConn, and at South Carolina.

Now that’s a shame! USCe should stay on there. But one of those cupcakes should be switched out for Florida or Wisconsin or somebody like that.

That's part of the deal with playing South Carolina every year, too. If Clemson has any dip in form South Carolina has shown the ability to pull even and surpass Clemson. If that happens, that's another tough game. Regarding OOC it's tough to gauge when you're scheduling up to 10 years out sometimes. Clemson plays LSU in 2025 I think. Either could be on a down year, or a couple of down years, and suddenly that schedule doesn't look so good. Then add to Clemsons schedule is Notre Dame getting thrown in there, and it can be a real mess. Bottom line for me is the ACC just has to get better.

The schedule really only looks bad bc FSU is so down. If FSU is even somewhat decent the schedule is generally okay.

Louisville is especially trending in the right direction and could be pretty good next year. UVA, Syracuse, NCSU aren't horrible teams. ND is ND.
