Unfortunately for an Ohio State University, Burrow had to leave aOSU to do all of those other things.

I'm not sure which is more annoying, but there are OSU fans who want to claim all his accomplishments and LSU fans who want him to distance himself from everything he did at OSU

It's a very strange thing from both sides. He has a degree from OSU and went on to win a Heisman at LSU along with a National Championship. In the last few weeks he said he learned most of his leadership skills at OSU from JT Barrett. So he can be a guy who still likes and respects both schools

quote:

According to Bengals team reporter Marisa Contipelli, Burrow credited former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett as someone who taught him about being a leader. He explained that the former Buckeye helped elevate his understanding of the mindset that it takes to play quarterback.

I have been trying to say this for 2 years...as long as Joe Burrow wears a Cincinnati Bengals jersey, you will ALWAYS know he played for Ohio State. Their fan base is made up of millions of Ohio State fans. The NFL knows that, so they will always give a side wink to Ohio State because they want those ratings. Think about it, Ohio State has one of, if not THE largest followings in all of American Sports, why would they not link Joe Burrow and Ohio State at every chance? This is about ratings and money!! If Joe Burrow played for any other team other than Cincinnati, the media wouldn't be going overboard to link him to Ohio State and Mr Football in Ohio, but he does play for Cincinnati and the media loves it. There are 6-8 year old kids right now, who, by the time Joe Burrow's career is over, will think he actually played and started for Ohio State. I hate it, but it is what it is. That degree from Ohio State, makes all of the difference in the world. In the meantime, it will drive LSU fans insane for the next 15 years.

Strange that such an innocent OP has 7 up votes and 46 down votes.

It's just an interesting Super Bowl factoid.

Appears to be first time in Super Bowl history that 5 former college teammates are starting for the same team in the Super Bowl.

People just hate Ohio State that much?

You know what OP was intended to be.

Yes, Burrow does have a degree from OSU, but the reason everyone knows his name is because of what he did at LSU and what LSU did for him.

For Ohio State, he's the one that got away.

Yeah, okay. Joe Burrow will let you know where he played every time you see those LSU shoulder pads he still wears and the bracelet on his throwing wrist. The talking heads will also remind you every time he throws a touchdown to his college teammate and future hall of famer Chase.

He can credit OSU, and that's fair, but he had to come to LSU to become a legend.

When the Raiders defeated the Vikings in Super Boal XI there were 9 Trojans between the two teams.

7 Trojans for the Raiders (Al Davis loved drafting USC guys, he coached at USC for two years as a position coach.)
2 Trojans for the Vikings.

Keep telling yourself that..you must have missed that he has FOUR teammates from Ohio State on that very same roster...which is the point of the thread. Wanna bet how many times during the Super Bowl he is mentioned as a former Ohio State QB, or that he is a local kid, or the fact that he is a former Mr Football in Ohio? Look, i don't agree with it and think its pretty shameful...even as a Ohio State fan, but make zero mistake, Joe Burrow will be linked to Ohio State his entire career as a Bengal. Get used to it!

What is ironic...is that the other Ohio team, the Cleveland Browns, had how many shitty former LSU players on its roster this past season?

Odell Beckham Jr
Jarvis Landry
Grant Delpit
Greedy Williams
Jacob Phillips

I hope the Browns get rid of every single one of them. All soft as charmin!!

This has been hashed out literally 100 times. Haskins was incredible in 2018 when he "beat" Burrow for the spot. He threw for 50 TDs and 8 INTs. That literally is the most P5 TD passes in a season except for Burrow in 2019. If Haskins stayed for his 4th season he may well have thrown for 60 in 2019 as well.

It was impossible to know what Burrow would become at LSU from his time before that. He always came off as a good kid with a great attitude and a really good teammate

It's kind of incredible those guys were in one QB room...with the QB coach/OC being Ryan Day. Hopefully OSU can hold onto that guy

We've always had a history of having a few Buckeyes on our roster for obvious reasons. Pretty sure the Browns have as well. Also guys from Pitt and Penn State.

More insane than LSU beating that Buckeye arse in the BCS NCG 15 years ago?

The melt on the Rant if he says "Athens HS" on Sunday and the melt on OSU boards if he says "LSU" would each be pretty entertaining. (I put it at 50/50 on which he says. He obviously won't say tOSU.)

This is so cringe

Troy Aikman played for Dallas, and he was never linked to his Oklahoma “career”

How many USC guys on that Raiders team were starters?
And by starters I mean in the 22, not specialists.

Bengals with 6 Buckeyes on roster, 5 starters.

Burrow to Chase.

Word.

I have 3 degrees from 2 universities, I consider both to have played a significant role in where I am today, even though I got my law degree from LSU.
