I’m super late, and this is a really weird fricking thread, but I don’t know anybody who says “texted” unless they were talking about literal text messaging

I feel like y'all are the weirdos because I legit have not heard anyone IRL refer to Facebook messaging or DM's as texting.
My 58 yr old mother even calls it 'messaging' when referring to a social media platform and 'texting' when referring to a phone.

Facebook Messenger can LITERALLY facilitate SMS messaging. You dont think Europeans text? They dont use SMS messaging....so they dont say "i texted him"?
Why would texting only be considered sms messaging? that makes zero sense. It BY DEFINITION means sending "text messages".
Also, I'd bet most of you are iPhone users which means you use iMessage which is an integraged NON SMS phone number based messaging system, and all of you call it texting. There is no difference between iMessage and Facebook Messenger....so...
