Why not? Christ is the son of God, correct? Shouldn't only his words hold any weight?

I thought he was his own son and dad in one.

Difference is Rob Parker didn't pull cornball brother from the bible and people who shared his opinion are a lot fewer than people who will agree with Broussard.

I'm not debating the pros and cons of his statement.

I'm simply stating that if the outcry gets loud enough ESPN will simply not renew his contract and talks of firing/lawsuits won't matter.

ESPN doesn't have to fire someone to get rid of them.

The Word of God is pretty clear that all Scripture is God breathed and useful for teaching, training, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2Timothy 3:16-17.

Espn shouldn't be talking about it at all.

I completely agree. However, if you're going to allow non stop opinions in favor of his lifestyle, then shouldn't alternate viewpoints be allowed as well?

Being intolerant of people's opinions is bad right?

ETA: Whether or not homosexuality is wrong is irrelevant. An individual's judgment of someone's sexual preference has no bearing on their life (or their soul if you're a believer)

Agreed. That's why I only wear 100% cotton clothing and abstain from all pork and shellfish.

It won't matter until they have to cut the check from his lawsuit. Broussard said pretty much the same stuff when John Amechi came out. To fire/suspend him now or not renew his contract later will put them in a bad position.

Are you arguing that if ESPN just doesn't renew his contract that Broussard would have a legitimate lawsuit that he would probably win?

That's crazy talk.

for arguments sake, assuming Jesus is the son of God, doesn't it make a whole lot of sense to get your message out through other people? It's called discipleship.

He should've kept his beliefs to himself. I hope they fire him. Broussard is garbage.

wow i read one page of comments...im sure theres many more asinine statements made but lets look at this one

1) Chris Broussard was ASKED...ESPN knows his beliefs...coincidence?

2) You hope they fire him because he directly quoted the Bible?

3) You think he's garbage? And he's the bigot?

4) Which TV channel are you on? Its easy to hide behind a computer, coward.

5) You want him fired because he used his freedom of speech to give his opinion on a subject in which he says he does not agree with it but accepts the person?

Chris Broussard is a good dude who gave his opinion, he did not come down on the dude he just does not agree with his lifestyle...I bet most people are freaking out about this statement because its a moral standard and for some reason "moral standards" are outdated

Its allowed to not agree with the way someone lives their life yet still support and love the...ever talked to a parents who doesn't want their kid to pursue a certain career?

Yes there are some pretty awful people that proclaim to be Christians but discriminate people who they see as "non-Christians" but Chris Broussard did not do this

Many Christians are seen as bigots and no matter what they say because he is a "Christian" those defenses get thrown up and before he opens his mouth about his belief he is already discredited and seen as judgmental

That shoe goes on both feet bro

Some of these posts have shocked me, I'm so glad to see people actually give a non biased view on this. Personally I'm glad someone with a mic on espn said something that was actually there true , deeply grounded opinion .

It was a very tone deaf answer. He shouldn't be fired or even expected to apologize, but he proved for the 800th time that he is a fricking moron.

Here's what gets me about this. It was Granderson who went out of his way to say that he and Broussard are on "opposite ends of the spectrum" on this issue. You can see in the OTL interview Broussard give this kind of fake smile as if to say, "you bleephole," when Granderson said that. Broussard didn't give his opinion on homosexuality until he had to respond to Granderson, and I'm not sure he would have said anything if he wasn't prompted.

Couldn't agree with this more

Broussard did nothing but answer the question about his beliefs, he didn't say anything negative besides the fact he doesn't agree with it

if he gets any flack over this it is ridiculous
