A few of those guys should be packaged to land an ace when they're ready to compete. Castro is on a good contract and hasn't hit his prime yet. He's probably more helpful for them in his prime years as opposed to the other guys.
It would be pretty damn amazing if all those guys work out... but that's a rarity. It's ridiculous how stacked they are.

Olney is already throwing out one of our SS as a possibility for the mets or yanks 
They both will be pretty desperate for SS help. I wonder if Theo could pry a Harvey or Wheeler out of the Mets? Yanks could probably offer Pineda but they would have to throw in Betances I would think. Severino is a nice prospect too, but he's a few years away.
Cubs have the bargaining power though. The good thing is, SSs are usually athletic enough to play anywhere. Kris Bryant was a SS at one point. So was Alcantara. And they have transitioned ok to their new positions (and still might even end up as OF)

Straily is just 25 and has shown glimpses of middle of rotation stuff.
I'd think he'll succeed in the NL.

I think they should go hard after Price in the off season. That rotation can be rebuilt with the quickness given all those blue chippers. And with having Rizzo and Castro coming into their own, it gives them a legit chance to compete pretty soon imo.
Should be a fun off season for Cubs fans. So much payroll flexibility and toys to play with.

What benefited the Cubs is that the only top prospect the As had happened to be a top 5 prospect in all of MLB.
I think Jeff S was ridiculously overrated (Cubs are matched only by the Bosox re hyping their players) as a pitcher and this is his only really quality year, and it hasn't been an "ace" year. His 2012 and 2013 were okay with ERAs near 4 and whips nothing special.
Straily has some promise, but as a back of the rotation starter, not mid-rotation.
Cubs have also done well signing mediocre starters and flipping them in July.

What will the Cubs do about pitching? I know all these prospects are really good position players but are there any good pitching prospects in the system? Legit question, I'm not too versed on the Cubs minor league system.

They don't have much pitching. Theoretically they should be able to trade one of their top 10 SS for 2 top 60 pitching prospects. Of course teams don't like trading prospects. But the Cubs should start moving some of them before they lose their value. I guarantee at least a couple are vastly overrated.
But so far they've found themselves super niche - dress up ML pitchers and trade them for good prospects.

No they don't. You get pitching through FA, when you have all 8 position players under control.

I know this thread is about prospects, but, I think people forget about current major leaguers when talking about the future. What about Rondon, Ramirez and Strop? You also forgot about Armando Rivero.

His whole post was pretty horrible. No mention of Travis Wood or Edwin Jackson. Jackson sucks, but he is signed through 2016. Not sure what he thinks will happen with him. I don't think there will be many trade offers for him. And no mention of any of the relievers that have stepped up big time this year. If you don't think Pedro Strop or Hector Rondon will be setting up or closing in 2 years you are blind.

Strop and Rondon are ok stop gaps while we build a pitching staff. I do not think they will be part of the future plans. Do people really want these guys in high leverage situations that actually matter? They will be shipped out to the first team that bites on them, I imagine. Aren't they both signed short term?
I like Neil Ramirez. I think he can be a good 7th or 8th inning guy. We will need some vets back there in the pen. I like Russel and Wright a lot as situational lefties, too.
I did forget about Rivero. I like him, too. Wouldn't you rather him and Vizcaino instead of the Rondon and Strop?

I guess Wood and EJax are your new Garza/Feldman. Im sure you're convinced they will still be in the rotation in 2016

Uhh no not really. I just think most of what you posted was inaccurate. To think that guys that throw 96-98 can't be a part of the future is beyond retarded. But, I guess the tough internet message board guy is just as smart a major league scout. You sure is pretty damn mad.
And Jackson is signed through 2016. Good luck getting someone to trade for him. I'm sure you could come up with something really good though.
