Forget Melo. I would rather the FO focus on adding Afflalo and trying to bring in Pau Gasol. With Gasol the Bulls have the best passing front court in the league and the defense gets better. A starting 5 with a healthy Rose with Afflalo and Pau is good enough to win the shitty East.

The guy was still in the top 10 highest paid athletes in America this past year

Thibodeau will go round and round with Melo for his defense. I am not sure if that can work. If anyone can make Melo play some defense it TT.

They're already an elite defensive team and Taj Gibson is a part of that reason. He was great for them last season and it's his time to start. Not to mention Thibodeau loves him. Gasol is still a really good player and a good fit, but how much more is he an upgrade right now. He's had some injuries lately and they'd have to shell out large contract to a soon to be 34 year old guy.

I would love to see a Bron vs Melo finals. Houston in 6

Anyone hating on adding Melo is just sad he left the Pellies off his short list

Taj is far too inconsistent though, can't trust him to contribute nightly as a starter. A Gasol at 75% is a better option that Gibson at this point, don't believe he has been playing motivated ball in LA with their shitty lineup and constantly being the scapegoat for their issues.

Obviously Melo and Afflalo wouldn't be taking their market value for this to work
Afflalo isn't a FA this summer, his salary is set at 7.5 mil. Bulls are gonna have to trade for him.

Far too inconsistent?
He was a 19/10 guy as a starter and 12/7 guy off the bench. He has good percentages, efficient, and dominated PF minutes in the 4th quarter of every game.
Now with that said, I agree that a 75% Gasol is a better option than Gibson. Gasol is very good... but that's shouldn't be a knock on Gibson. It's just not financially logical to give Gasol a 3 or 4 year deal at I'm guessing 15 per season when you have an above average option there already. Gibson is very capable of being a 15/10 guy with starter minutes and plays very good defense. Now you take into consideration the other factors like age, money, and the difference in stats(4 or 5 points), it suddenly doesn't make much sense to go that route.

There are already a ton of reports out there that Orlando wants to move him.

And people talk about a culture shock for Melo under Thibodeau. It would be even worse for Pau.

yeah I've seen those, and I'm not saying it's a matter of the Bulls being able to acquire Afflalo. it's them being able to get both that seems far-fetched. maybe Melo takes a big pay cut. or the Knicks somehow take Boozer and other sutff (say Butler and a pick, or a few picks) to not have Melo leave for nothing.

@BillSimmons NBA peeps are worried about the Bulls right now. A starting 5 of Rose, Afflalo, Carmelo, Taj + Noah w/ Butler as 6th man is VERY doable.
I could fap to this

Dwight is plenty capable of winning one.

If they can add melo and still keep Taj Gibson they are a lock to win the East regardless of if Rose comes back

Nah, as a Bulls fan, if Rose doesn't come back at least 80% of what he was and can't stay healthy, that team isn't getting past Miami.

Damn when did so many Bulls fans start posting here?

When their team finally appears to be getting a shot in the arm.
