Good lord.

As long as y'all maintain some semblance of health I don't see how you win less than 90, and it could be much more than that. The guys after Arrieta in the rotation should be plenty good enough to eat innings and provide quality starts for that lineup.

What's the back end of the bullpen and bench supposed to look like?

FYI...tickets will be pretty hard to come by this summer.

I am a season ticket holder and they sent out the pre-single game extras email yesterday and they are limiting purchases like I have never seen.

I sometimes get 5 or 6 when my group travels there, and they are capping a lot of games at 4.

So, recommend week day games or April or May games.

Just popping in this thread to say that I am looking forward to watching a Cubs/Astros World Series this year.

Cubs have the best GM in baseball and clearly one of the best (if not THE best) lineups in the NL.

Looking forward to watching a lot of Cubs wins this season. (Just hope you lose your last game, if it's against the Astros.)

I prefer this strategy to the other prevailing theory that we'd go short outings for the first 1/3 of the season to save everyones arm for a long post season run. To me an extra day off makes more sense than training your body to only prepare to go 5 or 6 innings.

Good.

Javy baez, chris cohglan, tommy lastella, and if the world is lucky enough...MATT MURTON...but probably Szcuzr.

Rondon, Strop and hopefully a healthy neil ramierz and a good justin grimm

eta: oh and david ross.

Debut? Like a rookie? I'm not sure we could see another rookie outside of the two you listed. Maybe Duane Underwood?

Albert Almora should be up at some point. Keep an eye on David Berg who was UCLA's closer. He could move fast

Underwood hasnt pitched out of A ball yet but i guess there is a shot.

I just told my best friend the same thing, Astros/cubs world series. Rolling with the cubs this year cause I'm going to Wrigley Sept 2.

Make no mistake, I know who my on paper daddy is, but thankfully the Cubs have a propensity for making that not matter at all

Adam Warren is going to be the X factor for us out of the pen

Not only can he come into the game in case of SP injury or someone getting shelled but he could get us out of some tight spots late in games

I'm not even going to pretend to know anythign more about this guy than what i've read, because typically i'm busy on sunday nights so i don't have to watch the red sox and yanks play what feels like every sunday, but all the reports seem great. Upside of a #3, i'll take that. I love the whole bullpen philosophy of basically everyone but the shut down guys is a back end starter.

Theo talking about how contreras and almora could contribute this year because they're not blocked by anyone. That confuses me a bit for almora (re heyward/soler) and confirms what i think we all knew, that they don't expect schwarber to be a catcher.

Cubs just signed Aaron Crow, the former Royal prospect. He had some good relief years in the very recent past but is on his way back from Tommy John's Disease.

I actually disagree with your feeling on Schwarber. I remember you and piggidy had a weird feeling about Soler being our team MVP. I am more of an Occam's Razor guy and said you cannot bet against Rizzo and Bryant would be our best rookie.

This year, I still have to put Rizzo and Bryant on top. I think Schwarber will be our third best hitter in a loaded lineup. Of course, just a friendly discussion here.

Also, here is my Opening Day lineup:

2B Ben Zobrist
CF Jason Heyward
1B Anthony Rizzo
3B Kris Bryant
LF Kyle Schwarber
RF Jorge Soler
C Miguel Montero
P Jake Arrieta
SS Addison Russell

All in all, Vick, these are wonderful things to be discussing.
