Misses weight by half a pound
So now what? They still fight and if Gaethje wins he wins the belt but if Charles he's still stripped?

Wow, half a pound. He couldn't go try to take a dump or do like a high school girl and play finger my throat?

Still on fence on buying this

I wonder if the scale he was using while doing last minute cutting showed him at 155 and not official scale

Still weird though that they give him an hour and he can’t drop half a pound, get in that sauna/sweat suit.
Crazy he’s stripped and title is vacant though because he didn’t hit

Apparently some of the fighters are saying someone messed with the scale in the back and made it .5 lbs off from the official scale

Wonder if they are going to let him re weigh? I doubt that with all the time that has passed he definitely could have taken a 2-3 pound dump
Posted on 5/6/22 at 3:26 pm to Tacktheritrix
Or shaved his head if it was that close.
But based on what they are saying about the scale in back, he probably thought that he was on weight

Dana will do everything he can to make this a legit fight. If Oliveira does indeed miss weight, he gets an automatic cut to his purse, win or lose, and the match basically won't be a sanctioned title bout... Which will destroy his PPV buys.
All I know is, someone at the Hotel is about to get fired.
These fighters weigh themselves on the exact scale before they go out there, so they know if they are going to make weight or not.
Most times, a fighter will know days ahead if they are going to miss, snd they tell Dana so he can do something about it.

Those guys bring 2 scales (at least) wherever they go. Shouldn't have been a problem.

Problem appears to be someone tampering with the official scale, which people had been using to pre-weigh themselves, as linked above.
They are claiming it is anywhere from 0.5 to 2 pounds off where it was the previous night, and not just for him.

You would think someone that is so extremely dominate right now wouldn't let something this foolish happen. He's 10-0 in his last 10 fights. Pretty wild this is happening.
BUT if we can blame it on the hotels then hell yea, fire em. I'm probably not ganna buy this fight. I was on the fence before but now I think I'm out.

I don’t understand. Everyone knew the hotel scale was reset overnight, came in suddenly overweight that morning, and nothing was changed for the actual weigh in?

Charles should have done the DC pull on the towel trick

I mean if he in a sauna suit shitting pissing throwing up shaving my head if my belly was on the line

Not hedging their statement that the matter is being looked into (in an effort to preserve buys, which at this point a decent amount are lost anyway) implies it's final

They have cutting down to an exact science. He was already cutting professionally. He had nothing to piss or puke up if he’s cutting. That’s why they gain so much weight after weigh in. They are just as motivated to make weight as you would be. Either he didn’t think he had a reason to cut because he thought he was at weight, or he was physically incapable of losing anymore. I’d guess the former.

Yep. This isn't weight cutting of the old days where a guy would hit the treadmill with a garbage bag on for an hour and sweet out 5 lbs.
They have it down so much now, they basically use salt baths and other techniques to literally pull out all of their excess water through some osmosis type of shite.
It's still amazing to me that Oliveira missed weight, though.
What makes it worse, is that Dana has nowhere else to go. With such a short amount of time unless he basically just elevates Chandler, who has already made weight, from the card to fight Gaethje... Again, but we already know how that fight will turn out.
This is yet another reason why weight cutting needs to be majorly overhauled and go by hydration percentage instead of physical weight.
