"I've been in this game since 1984, the game of fame and NBA," Barkley said. "Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods are the two greatest athletes I've ever seen in my life. I've been around a lot of movie stars, I've been around a lot of great athletes. Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods are the only two guys I've ever been around where people actually lose their minds when they see them or are in the room with them."

Barkley said that being in the presence of both Jordan and Woods gave him a feeling that didn't exist elsewhere in sports.

"It was an honor and a privilege to play against Michael. It was an honor and a privilege to watch Tiger in his prime," Barkley said. "Those are the only two guys — as much as I love Magic and Bird, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, and in football, you got Tom Brady who's the greatest football player ever — when you're around Michael and Tiger, there's a different animal. You realize like, I'm around something that's crazy and special."

Jordan didn’t have great +/- in the later part of his career

It's funny how Magic and Bird became one player.

In reminiscing no former players say, well I loved Magic or Bird is a top 5 player.

It's always, well you have Jordan then Russell and then maybe Wilt and Magic AND Bird.

Bird always gets ranked below Magic because of semantics. His name just got out first in this duo.

Yeah idk why Bird gets ranked lower than Magic, Bird was a better all-around player both ends of the court and suffered bad breaks that prevented him from winning the same amount of or more titles than MJ (Tiny Archibald out for the 82 Eastern Finals with injury, injured elbow and index finger for the 85 Finals and no Cedric Maxwell, Celtics heavily injured for the 87 playoffs on top of two 7 game slugfests just to make the Finals, out the entire 89 season due to bad heels). Magic was a below-average defender his entire career outside of his performance in the Lakers 1-3-1 trap defense for the 82 team, like there’s literally no case anyone can make that Magic is a better player than Bird other than the championship thing but the 79 Michigan State team was just a better total team with a better coach than Indiana State which Bird solely carried and the Lakers played in the weak west for most of that era and were therefore fresher for the Finals particularly in 87 their west playoff opponents SUCKED BIGLY.

Golf isn’t even a sport, it’s an activity.

Here is where he is wrong

Sports will never see anything like Fed, Rafa, Djokovic ever again. All three guys are closing in on all time records and they PLAY AT THE SAME TIME. That’s insane. If they didn’t have each other in their era the records would be shattered beyond compare

This would be like Snead, Jack, and tiger being in the same era taking titles away from each other

Or Kareem, Jordan, and Lebron being in the same era

He's wrong because Lionel Messi is in the same tier as Michael and Tiger. Messi's is arguably more impressive because he's played at the same time as another consensus top 5 all time player. I get that Chuck probably doesn't watch soccer, but he's almost unanimously considered the GOAT and now in his 30's is still the best player on the planet.

Messi and Ronaldo are doing this right now, and Mbappe will be there sooner rather than later.

Aren't you simultaneously arguing in the Kobe/LeBron thread that 5 titles makes Kobe better than LeBron's 3?

You know what other two players had 5 and 3 titles?

Then that just makes it all the more impressive he averaged the highest plus minus per season in NBA history.

Kobe’s a great all-around player 2-way, never up for debate
