quote:Ahh. Very well. I was referring to the Massey Composite, which in this case proves that it’s very possible for a team pike FSU to get snubbed out of the top 4, meaning we “need” the committee to “fix” such “errors.”
Actually based on this the computer rankings had FSU as 2nd
I hope we go to 8 one day because that seriously would be big enough for us to take humans out of it. A team might get a tough draw, but it’s virtually impossible for a consensus #1/#2 to be shut out of a bracket that big.

The intent of the CFP is to safeguard against some crazy computer anomaly that everyone is afraid of but can't explain how it would happen.
I still think you need a human component because the computers can be gamed, especially the evaluative ones.

Bold statement I’m not prepared to make
I made that exact statement when everyone was losing their minds about Ohio State getting in over TCU and Baylor. I said Florida State was the pretender and all they did was go out and support that assertion with a 39 point beat down.

Dont use those obviously.
Use the 6 BCS computers, throw in some Jelly Juke and Adam Wilson types and call it a day.

You think you've reinvented RPI. Congrats?
What's your beef with SOR?

Bama dropped more spots in a 5 point loss than Michigan in a 29 point loss, thanks for proving my point.

Now do the rest of the ranked teams to lose to #1..
Cry me a fricking river. The rest of the country has been pissed for 20 years that SEC teams barely drop with a loss. This is because of the over ranking of SEC teams in preseason polls and subsequent losses in these epic matchups. I’m looking squarely at you, Texas A&M as a shining example of this. Look also at several years with over ranked Florida, Auburn, etc.
Now Alabama gets treated like the rest of the country has in the past and it bothers you?
Here’s the difference. Number 13 got put in their appropriate place by number 1. Alabama at 5 lost to a team almost 10 spots below them. Yeah, they’re going to drop a bunch of places. That’s how it’s supposed to work.

Shocked Michigan State wasn’t in there

A1abama dropped two spots after losing to #2. Michig8n dropped one spot after losing to #1.
Weird.
Weird.

Couldn’t agree more, Mr. Perfect. A cunning observation as usual.

Also not sure you realized, you admitted you agree with me, so there's that.
quote:Yea because the SEC doesn't routinely finish as the best conference in the nation with the most top ranked teams by virtually every metric, right?
This is because of the over ranking of SEC teams in preseason polls and subsequent losses in these epic matchups.
quote:So that's how it supposed to work, then why do other teams that lose to top ranked teams by much less than 29 drop more than 1 spot?

The sec gets treated like this because we routinely have one of our very good but not division champion I.e. auburn go out of conference and beat an Oregon type and then the rest of the rankings get justified when they chip away at each other. The big ten has no win like that this year

It would be interesting. Computers can't handle things like weather, injuries, trends, etc. I know some have a recency bias component, but that's not usually their main model.

Logic has no place in this argument.
