Aug 31 34-07 4A: Live Oak (3-5-0)
Sep 07 00-28 4A: Zachary (6-2-0)
Sep 14 16-07 5A: St Amant (3-5-0)
Sep 21 20-17 3A: Northeast (3-4-0)
Sep 28 24-00 3A: West Feliciana (3-5-0)
Oct 05 14-00 5A: Woodlawn (BR) (2-6-0)
Oct 12 46-06 5A: Walker (0-8-0)
Oct 19 16-00 5A: Scotlandville (3-5-0)

Face it. Central hasn't played anybody. The only team they've played with a winning record is 4A Zachary which totally dominated Central in the second half. They are no where near a top tier 5A school. I dont even think they are a top 20 5A school. Central is barely winning their games with the exception of Walker and Live Oak. Traditionally those schools have always sucked. I fully expect Central to compete for second place in the division with Sid Edwards as coach. They will never win district.

Sure you can say that Central beat Woodlawn by a greater margin than that of Catholic, but every team has a bad game.

I fully believe Central is ranked 14 mainly due to the name of their coach. They have played better but against the TOP 20 in 5A I wouldn't expect them to win.

Keep in mind that Central still has a couple of guys that came from the New Orleans area which have played a key role on their team. Also with the new Central School District some of the better football players will no longer be in district lines.

Now lets not get all excited and think that Sid Edwards will have them competing for State Titles.

Sid dicked the hell outta us my junior year when we played central for a JV game.

He knew every time and everywhere one of our Safety blitz would come from and play action bootlegged away from me every time. I was chasing that QB the while night

The last time Central thought Catholic was beatable, Central was 8-0 and ranked 2nd in the state. Catholic went over there and won 23-0. Donnie Jones was catching 70 yard TD passes on them. Embarassing.

I'll tell you what's going to happen at Central, just like everywhere else Sid has been successful. Eventually , the Alumni and other supporters who do all the work there because their kids go there will notice that their kid gets aced out for playing time by the recruits that Sid brings in (from outside the school district - he knows how to get it done) whose parents don't contribute anything and act like everybody owes them everything. A rift will be created by this and the Alums and supporters will eventually force Sid out (probably after some very successful seasons) so their kids can get a chance to play.

Sid started out years ago coaching AAU basketball and made huge inroads into the black community and thats the source of his recruiting. He was responsible for all the talent that Catholic got in the early '90's (yes including Dunn). Did not anyone but me find it funny that Dunn nominated Sid and not Dale for the National Coach of the Year? That was AWESOME!! And he was responsible for the same thing at Redemptorist. Both schools still benefit from the echoes of Sid's time spent at each respective school.

And Central will be no different.

Congrats to Central, I gotta go for ya'll since that is where I lived before we moved and I started going to Live Oak.

There were rumors back in 2004 that Sid had applied for the Live Oak head coach opening. Apparently he did, but when it became obvious that he wouldn't get it b/c of the supid people we had in charge who didn't want change and put an idiot in charge of the team, he pulled his name out. I can tell you that pissed me off and a lot of other players were also pretty pissed.

As well Catholic should, given the fact they hand-pick thier players and have twice as many on their roster as any Public School, but don't look for a gimme this season. Catholic is down this year and Central is up. It should be more of a game and with the possibility of the District Championship on the line, who knows........

Does Catholic of Pointe Coupee still benefit from the week and a half that Sid spent there?

His influence resonates everyday there...the same way it does at Menard in Alexandria even though he managed to stay there a whole year before jumping ship....

All is true, but Sid is still a very good person. Sid has applied at many schools before Central brought him on. Biggest draw back on Sid that has kept him out of many Jobs he wanted was that the public schools that wanted to hire him could not offer him a job because he was/is not a certified teacher. I do not know how Central got by that. Maybe because they have their own rules now that they have their own school dist??? Still a good Coach and great person.

Catholic is always "beatable", but I don't see anything different in Catholic this year compared to the last 10-15 years. I'm not sure what Tree is talking about. They are ranked #3 in the state. Their only loss was in a game they should have won versus another top 5 team. They have a handful of guys with D-1 offers. Same old story as far as I'm concerned.

i go there and i know for a fact that we do not have any players from new orleans. Also, most of our better football players came to central from private schools as a result of this new school system.
