Player A: A 6'8 250 8th year forward who is the best overall athlete in the NBA today and is playing alongside the second best SG in the league who just happens to be a top 5 player in the world.

Player B: A 6'3 190 point guard who is in his third year in the league and who had his second and third best players miss a combined 53 games (albeit not at the same time).

Well, the 3rd year and 8th year thing is completely irrelevant.

If you want to use the literal MVP definition, it is Dwight Howard, wayyyyyyy more valuable than Rose

So the Bull still would be the best team in the East if Rose wasn't there?

Replace Dwight Howard with say... Brook Lopez and the Magic still make the playoffs as at worst the 5th seed.

Replace Derrick Rose with say... Devin Harris, and the bulls are maybe the 5th seed.

You can have good team defense all you want, but if you aren't putting up points, you aren't winning games. Rose is doing his thing despite injuries and despite being in an offense that's not best suited for his skill-set. He's in his third year and he's already the best at his position.

one is already in his prime, the other is about to enter his. Experience matters in sports and you know this.

WHAT? That's the silliest thing I've read in a while. Without Howard, the Magic have ZERO defense, even though you are the only person in the world who thinks there perimeter D is solid.

YOu can put up points all you want, if you don't have good team defense, you aren't winning games. See how easy pukie cliches are?

You're arguing on behalf of Lebron again.

The Magic aren't the 5th seed without Howard. More like the 7. Maybe 8.

The Bulls may be worse than 5th, with all the injuries they had.

I think you are selling both players short in this comparison.

I liked this Simmons quote on Orlando from his most recent column:

quote:

Orlando leads the league in "Guys Even Spectators Feel Like They Could Take Off The Dribble Or Post Up" (seven by my count)

So who would you expect to hit more shots inside:

You keep using Lebron's size as an excuse as to why his FG% is higher?

So, who'd you expect to make more outside shots:

The 6'3 190 PG or

The 6'9 260 SF?

I'll hang up and listen.

There's a reason the Heat would rape the Magic in a playoff series.

So, how is that Rose's advantage?

You're arguing on behalf of Lebron and you don't even realize.

So, are you going to admit you're wrong by saying Lebron takes more shots near the rim? Since ya know, the facts say otherwise?

LeBron should be scoring more than Rose inside simply because he's bigger than him. Don't act like you don't know that to be a fact. Bigger players statistically have the highest shooting percentages in the league. Therefore, logically, LeBron has no reason not to have a higher FG % than Rose.

BTW if LeBron is such a great perimeter player than why is his 3 point percentage so low? If he's such a great shooter, than why has he never even hit 80% from the FT line in his career?

You seem to think that this argument is about who is the better player, when it's not. Rose is the MVP. That's a fact. The MVP isn't for the player who had the best year. It's for the player who was most valuable to his team success and that's not LeBron. He was last year when he was clearly the best player on his team and led them to 61 wins. This year, he has a better supporting cast and has a lower record. He's a top 2 player in the world, but he's not the MVP of the league. He's not even in the top 3 for the award.

Then why is the bigger player a better outside shooter as well?

We can discuss this when you figure out what a perimeter player is, as everyone else seems to completely understand it.

That's a fact, LOL. Classic. Dwight Howard is more valuable to his team that Rose.

THAT'S A FACT!!!! YEA!!!!

LeBron shoots 33% from 3. Rose shoots 33.2%.

So assuming that 0.2% is all the same, by this logic, what makes Rose such a great perimeter player?

So no one else plays defense there? Just Howard? He and he alone is the reason why they are 5th in the league in PPGA? Not only does he never allow points in the paint, but he also defends against the guards on a team as well?

Who knew?

Milwaukee is third in the league in ppga. They must be a high seed in the playoffs, right?

Lebron is also a better midrange jump shooter. I don't know if it got lost because it was the last post on the previous page, but I posted their eFG% on jumpers.

No he's not.

Rose is a better shooter than LeBron. Better scorer =/= better shooter.

You apparently don't understand that a small forward is not the same kind of player as a point guard. It's obvious that you really don't know shite about basketball.

You make the worst every arguments, lol.

The Rockets are 3rd in the league in PPG, they must be a high playoff seed, right?
