If I’m CBS and they’re firing Romo, I’d be looking into every avenue I could to pull Olsen from Fox. I still think Romo might be getting shafted here from the bodycam footage

(Not sure what his contract language is so not even sure it’s possible)

Exactly. This is just a PR move. CBS probably told Romo he will be back when football season starts and will just have to sit out during meaningless sports season.

Just a stunt for CBS to say “Look, we did something to punish him!” then go back to having him call game days like nothing ever happened.

CBS has been at simmer-level odds with Romo the past few yrs because his broadcasts have degraded so much and he's gotten so lazy and just wants to play golf instead of study for games.

They'll prob give him The whole year off if Watt is even a B+ and the quietly let him go and get rid of that $17m/yr contract they now regret.

Or this is the out CBS needed to mo e on from Romo.

They haven’t been happy with his work ethic the last couple seasons. There was even that rumor where they staged an intervention for him to take the job more seriously.

If he has a morality clause they will hammer that to get out from underneath that massive contract

Wonder if CBS has been positioning Ian Eagle and Watt to take over for Nantz and Romo soon. Not sure what Nantz's contract looks like.

Olsen got a raw deal from Fox once Brady came on, but I’ve always thought he was one of the best color analyst guys when it comes to just talking ball and breaking stuff down.

People used to rave about Romo on air but seemed like last year the consensus was he is often annoying and unprepared.

I was always sort of neutral about him but can understand the annoying criticism.

Fire his arse...

How many here are not gonna watch the prime CBS game because Tony fricking Romo got drunk and caught? Zero, Barney the Purple dinasour could call the game and I wouldnt give a shite because in 2026 they put a Mute button on my remote.

I know it was a long time ago, but considering CBS used to tolerate Pat Summerall getting shitfaced during live broadcasts, putting Romo on leave for this is kind of funny.

He was good his first season, but after that he's pretty much been terrible.
