Honestly the LHSAA handbook on recruiting needs a major rewriting… “Relinquished due to sanctions” is almost a dynasty at this point.
Specifically it needs to acknowledge that it’s in school’s best interests to field the best teams they possibly can, and allow mild forms of recruiting.

Nobody should be providing extra benefits to 14 year olds to pick a school however IMO theres nothing wrong about telling him/his family that he has an option to get a better education and that Catholic has a better mechanism in place to get him exposure to go D1, while also assuring that he is academically eligible come time to sign with a school.

Absolutely agree. The select league is doing this all over the state. It naive to not recognize that and hypocritical of the LHSAA to not admit that.

What is an extra benefit? Public schools offer need based meal vouchers. If that is OK, then Catholic’s scholarships are fine.
From what I’ve gathered, the issue was Fertitta had a plan to identify and connect the best football talent in BR with Catholic. That’s exactly what they do on the academic side, but no one is threatening to take away all of their blue ribbons.

Ok, well in that case, make everyone in the select divisions forfeit their titles. No one won shite then.
JC already gave back one title SU Lab two...
wrongdoing must be proven before sanctions are meted out.

and there are no rules from any entity regarding academic scholarships and sanction

It doesn’t matter what people “think” should be legal. It matters what is legal per the LHSAA handbook

which was bullshite. Because Willie Allen stayed with a coach during the week because the trip from wherever he lived was like a 1.5 hour commute each way for the kid every morning and every night.

You have been gone a while. The class has doubled or tripled in size. It's not the nerdy 90th percentile kids anymore.
Up until the past couple years it hovered around 30. Covid brought more than ever and that may have spurred a longer trend of more kids. Vast majority aren’t athletes even today
They used a few feeder schools to get kids into the catholic system in recent years..Mercy being the main one

You have some bad information...I am pretty sure I know which kids you are referring to and neither went to CHS .. they went to Madison Prep and Episcopal for HS

Just bc they were placed at mercy doesn’t mean they all ended up at catholic. Mercy was definitely a spot Fertita was recommending kids attend

I wish St Amant would do the things that Dutchtown and EA do for football. Those two are definitely recruiting for football, especially Dutchtown. I find it hilarious that Dutchtown has their panties in such a wad over this. That school is a great example of public schools recruiting for football.

Lol Byrd was terrible. Both of Catholic’s other playoff opponents would’ve blown Byrd out just like Catholic did. Congrats on being on the shitty side of the bracket?
