I saw a talk about this once years ago from a scientist.

He said there is a physical barrier to what humans can do. In the past, few people can get to that barrier and they became superstars. Now, that barrier is becoming the new normal

Where is the barrier, then? Because I see them continuing to get bigger, stronger, and faster.

100% true. However, there’s little room for further improvement. For example, more athletes may get closer to Bolt’s records, but the record may only be shortened by a few hundredths of a second, if even. Exciting times to be a sports fan. Who woulda thunk DEs could be the best athletes on the field?

I think it's more or less, everyone has their own physical barrier, not everyone has the same barrier.

Due to better training at younger ages and much more access to elite training for everyone at all ages, more people than ever are reaching their peak level of fitness.

It's all a numbers game.

Ligaments and bones. At some point people will be too fast and agile for their ligaments to keep up.

I guess there are limitations involving genetically possible bone density, muscle mass, gravity, etc. I’m an amateur, so wtf do I know?

Was called Fatso because his teammates thought he was obese.

He was one of the biggest D-lineman in the league.

Can we talk about how what was once called freakish obese is now called normal?

Look at pictures of guys from the 1930's and 1940's - everyone looks like they are 18 years old.

It is amazing these giant fat slobs we call athletes can be so athletic being so fat and obese.

This would only be true if there was a sudden significant spike in speed/agility. Why wouldn’t their ligaments continue to develop as the rest of their bodies do?

I agree with you.

But their tendons and joints are more prone to explode too, IMO. (I don't have professional stats to back this up, it just seems that way to me. I think we may be reaching a point where athletes are able to push their bodies too far beyond an intelligent point to do so.)

Was also strong as frick.

And look at baseball players in the 20's and 30's. They all looked 45 years old.

Humans will continues to evolve. Bones become different/stronger, same with the rest of the body. For some people, it gets worse through genetics. For others, better.
