I don't know why he goes to such great lenght to denounce the need of theread on this, then explains the imporance of keeping it a kids game or whatever.
Then, starts a thread and has apparently incredible insight into high school basketball.

high school basketball matters a heck of a lot more because college scouts may come to the game and recruit players

i just think all this talk is taking away the fun and experience of playing for middle school and putting too much pressure on them to play like duke or mississippi state is recruiting them
Patton you are way off base. A lot of people have big money on these games which makes them of great importance. So occasionally a 13 year old gets clubbed Tonya Harding style. Small price to pay for the middle school leagues to keep itself more important than any high school, college or nba basketball.
Stick to your high school and college sports. Middle school is where the real competition is. If these kids have a bad game, their girlfriend might break up with them. Does that happen in college? I doubt it.

Saw some good basketball last night at St Jude. The St. Jude 8th graders are as good as I've seen. Have a nephew on the 6th grade team so I watch them a lot. Not sure where the other team was from...the northshore I think, Holy Ghost, but they have a REALLY good 7th grade team. They took apart St Jude's 7th graders and pulled most of their starters in the 2nd half. Watch out for those guys next year.

I heard they (STM 6th graders) were outstanding, how did the 7th and 8th graders do? STM vs. St. George?

St. Jude tournament starts tonight. Last big tournament before the elite 8. It should sort out some bubble teams and define some seeding.

Probably going to be some big $$ laid down on this tournament - who's your favorite?? Will the spreads be in the advocate on Friday?

I am not allowed to speak on those matters.
To answer your question about the favorite to win, Sacred Heart is coming of a tournament victory in the St. Thomas More tournament. I still think St. Jude on their home court is the favorite.
Last night may have definitely shook up the brackets for the elite 8 as far as seeding and bubble teams go.
Before last night my bracketology would have been:
1. St. George
2. Sacred Heart.
3. St. Jude
4. OLOM
5. St. Thomas More
6. Ascension Catholic
7. St. Aloysius
8. CHS
Last night though St. Jean Vianney pulled the upset of the century knocking off St. George.
Also, St. Jude pummeled CHS.
Bracketology as of 2-5-10:
1. Sacred Heart
vs
8. St. Jean Vianney
4. OLOM
vs.
5. St. Thomas More
3. St. George vs.
6. Ascension Catholic
2. Sacred Heart vs.
7. St. Aloysius
Bubble Teams are:
CHS, St. Alphonsus, MBS and St. Theresa
St. Theresa and CHS square off in the losers bracket of the St. Jude tournament Saturday morning

I was going to try to check out a St George/St Jude final on Sunday. What is the ticket situation like outside the gym?
