Bear Tiger, here is some info on the top 7th grade teams this year from what i've seen, so you can get a jump on next year's 8th grade rankings....again, this is from what I have seen. I'm mostly a H.S. and college BBALL fan, but watched a lot of CSAL games and really enjoyed it.
1-Sacred Heart--this group has never lost..
2-St Thomas Moore--huge, deep, and athletic
3-St George--solid, well coached...also big and deep.
The next 4 or 5 are close, and have beaten each other....I'd say St Aloy, MBS, Holy Ghost, OLOM and St Jude
St. Aloy-always a tough match, not dominate, but you gotta work to beat them.
MBS-Outstanding guard play, quick and aggressive.
Holy Ghost-Starters can play with anyone, real
depth issues, huge drop-off after 5, no bench.
OLOM-depends on outside shooting, when it's on, they can light it up.
St. Jude-inconsistent, showed signs of being able to put it all together, but got handled by some teams above as well.

Brackets are out. I will do a full analysis with brackets and predictions this evening or tomorrow morning.
The tournament starts Thursday night.

CSAL Elite 8 Brackets Released
1. St. Jude vs. 8. St. Theresa
St. Jude should take this one easily. Theresa has pulled off some upsets this year, but doesn't have the firepower to hang with St. Jude.
4. St. Thomas More vs. 5. Our Lady of Mercy
OLOM is my pick to take this one. STM's coach is more inexperienced than Mercy's and may tighten up on the big stage.
3. St. George vs. 6. St. Jean Vianney
St. George lost a monumental game to SJV in the St. Jude tournament. No way the hall of fame coaching staff at SGS is going to allow that to happen again. Green and White take this one.
2. Sacred Heart vs. 7. Ascension Catholic
This one will be closer than the experts think. Ascension Catholic can play an up tempo game with Sacred Heart and give them trouble. Sacred Heart pulls out a close one here by 5 points.
The second round is where things get very interesting.
St. Jude vs. OLOM
St. Jude beat them by 1 point the other night. I expect nothing less than another close one. In the end St. Jude's outside shooting should propel them to victory.
SGS vs. Sacred Heart
SGS has been in a slump at the end of the season, but they will be ready for the Elite 8. I expect them to turn things around and gain some confidence in their first round win. They will take this one and go to the championship.
St. Jude vs. SGS
These 2 schools are like Duke and UNC as of late. Separated by about 5 miles, these 2 seem to clash for students, stomping grounds and girlfriends. SGS usually seems to get the better of St. Jude, but this year will be different. I predict that St. Jude and their former LSU QB great will be cutting down the nets come Monday Night.
Tournament starts tomorrow night.

Great info Tigerclaw. Any idea of what players are going to CHS 8th grade. They have been to the elite 8 3 out of the last 5 years, and usually steal a couple csal guys from either teams.
I have seen Sacred Hearts group play. They are probably the way too early preseason #1 for next year.

I'm sure Catholic will take some players, haven't heard specifics on any yet though. That will have an impact on things next year, I'm sure. We will stay tuned.

Agreed. General, we are trying to talk legitimate competitive sports here. There is a lot money riding on the games this weekend, but you are bringing this to a creepy level. Let the kids play dude.
