Here's an interesting article from The Athletic: The Caitlin Clark Effect and the uncomfortable truth behind it

Like the Tiger woods effect?

So you think reese DOESNT actually feel that way and she said that because she was told to?
No, I think she meant it and I agree with her that there are many other players worthy of that kind of recognition.

Not possible. Tacky says it isn't about race.

So you think it IS about race?
Of course it is. And I'm obviously not the only one who thinks so, as the article I posted suggests.

How long will it be before Clark simply blends into the league and those that do follow her realize that she's just another player in the WNBA.

It’s crazy how you just ignore facts. Yea, “just another player”
You make it sound like I don't think she has skills. She does. But so do a ton of other players in the league.

She's going to have to cut waaay down on turnovers and come down off her high horse (difficult to do with all the accolades thrown at her 24/7) before she should be considered a superstar.

She could develop into one, but she's not there just yet.

Almost no one watches the WNBA, which is my point

The fact is she set the all-time record for turnovers last season, and leads the league again so far this year.

From what I've seen, at least 40% of her "turnovers" are perfect passes that are so damn good that her bumbling teammates have never experienced them before and aren't expecting the ball in that place or at that moment.

Shades of Pistol Pete in college.

She is the sole reason anyone is talking about the WNBA, full stop.

From your two (terrible) posts, I honestly don't think you've watched her play in the WNBA. Either that or you're ignorant about what you are seeing.

Nobody is questioning that. I'm talking about talent alone. She has it. But so do a ton of other players in the league.

She isn't anywhere near the best player in the league. She arguably isn't even the best guard in the league.

She set the ALL-TIME record for turnovers last season. She leads the league this season in turnovers. What exactly am I ignorant about seeing?

Fair point. I still believe there are guards in the league that are just as good at shooting and passing.
As the article I posted stated, there are additional reasons why she is getting so much attention.

Men are a “large and growing part of the WNBA’s TV audience,” making up 60% of ESPN networks’ WNBA viewers

2 ways to take this:

1. Typical sports journalist wishcasting hoping to speak a reality into existence

2. Of course men would watch...then why the whole "little girls need heroes" marketing?

Lastly, the sports media has never demonstrated any integrity when it comes to reporting on their pet political movements in entertainment.

The WNBA is total shite and a net negative enterprise. Write any number of horseshite articles you want.

She plays the most like a dude (at guard) than anyone in the history of the women’s game. That’s why. Women’s basketball is fricking boring. Worse shooting, worse passing, worse dribbling, played below the rim, etc.

It’s not that fricking complicated.

You repeat this over and over and never actually retort.

You can like women’s basketball all you want, no one is stopping you. People like all sorts of lame shite
