Isn't Raiola, who decomitted from UGA at the last minute, from Buford?
Like vinegar said he's not "from" buford but yes he played there. He committed to UGA in May of 2023 and planned to enroll early at UGA. His family up and moved across the country to Buford last summer. After being committed for 7 months and planning to enroll in january he decommitted the week of Decemebr signing period. There is nothing anyone cansay to convince me that the buford people didn't have at least a tiny something to do wiht it. All the BS of "but he's nebraska legacy. His family played there. His name is in the stadium, He can play right away" etc etc...all of that was still the same back in May. None of the above changed between May and Decmeber.

Plus, I can't imagine that they uproot and move the family to Georgia like that if the end game was to sign with Nebraska.

He's the definition of a mercenary.

What Buford City has created is pretty damn impressive, not just from an athletic standpoint. Even getting a teaching job there takes connections. It's its own oasis with all of the surrounding GCPS schools going down the shitter due to the current Board. Wife has 2 more years to suffer to lock in retirement with GCPS, then it's off to Buford hopefully. Or just go to Hall County.

Gwinnett schools used to be really good.
Not so much anymore.
Not so much anymore.

I take it that she's the SI?

No, that's Tik Tok Tarece, professional race grifter and one of the Board members who forced out J. Alvin Wilbanks as long-time superintendent. Her, Everton Blair and Karen Watkins. While Wilbanks was scheduled to retire, they forced him out early and brought in a failed Superintendent from Seattle in Calvin Watts...he had the right skin tone they were looking for.

$84 million and can’t afford a colorized rendering? Just kidding, thats a nice HS stadium. HS sure is nicer nowadays

That place is nicer than a lot of FCS stadiums.
Also helps that they've won 10 state titles in football since 2001.

Phillip Beard makes sure they have what they need. And what he can control.

They had one of the best in the nation already. Guess they just have money to burn

That’s wild. Their current stadium is actually pretty nice.
Since Buford is an ISD is the city coming up with all that cash themselves?
Edit: thanks ptra. Makes sense. Buford isn’t affluent across the board but I can see them having enough of a tax base to pull this off.

McEachern has a very large private endowment for a high school. That is the reason it is much nicer than other Cobb County schools. Buford is a city school and gets all the tax money from the city of Buford and does not have to share with other Gwinnett county schools. Some one once said it was a public school with private school money. They have grown from a single A school to the highest classification in a very short time

They're not so much an ISD but a municipal school district (which are rare in GA and all of the ones that exist are grandfathered in from pre-1945).
