Honestly, I’m pretty dang surprised by this one. Thought he’d be a fringe 1st round pick at least. He’s clearly the Heisman favorite going into next year IMO.

It's a pretty loaded draft class for running backs. I guess he figures he can come back, get a Stanford degree, potentially win a Heisman, and go higher in the draft next year.

RB's over any other position should leave as soon as they can

Yea, I'd try to start that clock to the 2nd contract asap, I hope he doesn't get hurt next season

ehh not really. Barkley might be the only one to go in the first now.

He'll take out a huge insurance policy.

But yeah, this is dumb. Strike while the iron is hot.

bad move

another season of taking shots to his head and knees. Hope nothing happens, but his best interest would of been to go to draft. Their Qb's are terrible, they aren't going to any Playoff.

It's like the Dlineman who are lock 1st rounders and come back, why risk OL diving at ur legs, falling on ur legs, etc for another year. Get the 1st round $$$, you can always go back for the degree(many have)

I actually thought Costello with a little experience could be damn good. He improved a lot over the year.

You would think Marcus Lattimore would be a lesson to never come back for your senior year if you are a RB.

Right. I mean, it's all about that person's priorities. If the Stanford degree, the Heisman, or a Pac-12 Championship is the most important thing to him, I get it. If his goal is just to make $ I don't get it. But again, it's his decision.

Costello is improving right on schedule. The WR'S were really young, too. Arcega-Whiteside and Eddington should be beasts.

My concern lies with the defense. They couldn't stop anyone with a pulse this season.

As far as Love goes, I'm happy to see him back, but it worries me a bit. He's trying to become a doctor, so he's not some dumn jock that will have to sell used cars if he gets hurt.

I do agree that he should go for it now because of the position he plays.

Costello was horrific when I saw him early in the season and looked pretty decent when I saw him at the end of the season. He improved big time and those receivers are nasty. Stanford should be good next year. Not really sure why Love felt the need to come back but it’s great for the college game so I’ll take it. He was the best running back in the country imo.

He can become a doctor later after football is over.

But you're only young once.

It's not like if you leave school early you can't go back...he'll just have to pay tuition which I'm sure he can afford if he makes it in the league for 5 plus years.

I’ve heard that a few teams wouldn’t consider him in the first 3-4 rounds due to concerns he wouldn’t play more than his rookie deal.

They think he’ll cash in on a rookie deal then go to medical school afterwards to not screw up his own health anymore than he already has.

Med school no interest in 26 yr old applicants unless they have PhD.

Maybe love never plays pro ball.

Kentucky had a 50's hoops class with a natty including cliff Hagan who won NBA champ at st Louis as #2 option.

Best guy on that Kentucky team went to med school. No pro sports.

They don’t make exceptions for minority Stanford grads who have retired from the NFL?

Average age of entering Med School students is 24...average age of law school students is 26.

It seems the cut-off is more around 30 years old. Those over 30 only account for 4% of new med school student.

He can have a decent career in the NFL and then go to Med School. He's 20 years old...He could play 6-7 years which is far beyond the average RB career in the NFL and go back to school.

I don't see why NFL teams would be scared of taking him.

Isn't the rookie contract 4 years? Hell, that's the average RB NFL career.
